  1. The only thing so called "endangered wood" does is allows the crooked dirty ba$tards to fine guitar companies and fill their filthy a$$ pockets with more money.
  2. I like metal detecting quiet a bit. Look for old coins mostly but also civil war relics. I also like reading true weird paranormal and cryptozoology stuff.

It looks to have been well taken care of too!! Enjoy and congrats on the new baby!!
  4. Also the Tennessee State Museum is free if you like history and all. They once had one of the best collection of militia swords I had ever saw before. Plus a lot of civil war and other things like the Indian relics and stuff. The country music hall of fame is nice too. You will not have to worry about any places to eat as the downtown area has a ton of dives to check out. The guitar stores like Carters and Gruhns too. Have fun!!
  5. I like Marcus King. The kid can flat out get down and has a decent voice. Enjoy!
  6. I like mesa myself. I had a studio 22 once but my current and only amp is a dc2. It cranks for only 22 watts. It is all I need since I do not gig anymore. It is easy to drag around if you have to as well. I just rehauled all of the tubes in it. Has a couple of scratchy pots though. My only beef is the reverb is not very strong but I have a reverb pedal to make up for the thin reverb on the amp. Congrats on yours and I bet it sounds nice too!!
  7. He is an awesome guitar player. I like his stuff too. I like this performance. Some people do not get it but I do.
  8. Happy Birthday!! I hope your healthy and well too. I also hope I see 66 one day myself! We do not have a promise of tomorrow. Enjoy!!!

    NSWD!

Dang that's a nice one too!!!! Enjoy i am looking for a new one as well and that one looks like it will do the trick
  10. That was an awesome mid and a good job on the guitar!!!
  11. I use the big bends stuff too but man it is expensive and the little syringe is a booger sometimes to squeeze out the right amount. I am looking for an alternative as well. I been thinking of the hockey puck looking container stewmac offers. Anyone tried that one?
  12. yes fret rockers are very good tools. Now I do not take and build guitars but have had my share of working on them. There is one seller on ebay that sells guitar tools at a decent price. I got my fret rocker from him several years back. Also along with some radius gauges get you some of those little fret protectors for filing one fret at a time. They just a little piece of metal with a slot cut into it for spot leveling one fret at a time. I have a few and one will last a very long time. And I also have a fingertip sander. It is made of hard rubber and has like a 3/16" or so inch wide belt type sanding surface. They are very useful too and are pretty good on the wallet as well. Harbor freight even sells them a good price. Here is a link to that little sander https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fret-Dressing-Crowning-Sanding-File-Stick-Kit-1-with-4-belt-Luthier-tool-MI-USA/142658504072?hash=item21371c0588:g:ta4AAOSw1DtXLleH:sc:USPSFirstClass!37055!US!-1
  13. Man those are some very nice looking les pauls!! I like the blue one. Are you gonna keep both?
  14. Well I did not see a picture of the input jack but hey that is cool!! It is a very nice guitar!!
  15. Thanks for sharing. But since you have said your not thrilled with the performance.....what alternative would you recommend? I am not very familiar and I would like a quick swap. I know how to solder the stuff in but prewired one seems really tempting.
  16. So what would happen if the OP does change it out for himself and keeps the original stuff in a box somewhere if the guitar will sound better after the alteration? It is his guitar and if he is planning on keeping it what difference does it make? I am thinking of putting an upgraded pre wired set of emerson pot harness in mine with different caps. I do not see the big deal if the OP is going to keep the guitar.
  17. Keep it in the case. I only use my stand when I take a break from playing or whatever. When I am done the guitar goes back in the case. I bought a white sg once and the previous owner left it in a stand and the stuff absorbed into the neck. It is stupid that happens.
  18. One more thing, I think the studio that you did just buy is pretty cool with the front sanded down and also the back of the neck. Very cool detail.
  19. I hate to burst your bubble on one thing but I am just going to blurt it out. I do not think a brand new studio will play better than the 98 you just purchased. I think a guitar plays better after it is broken in and the wood and everything has settled down. Now to have a les paul is awesome. Having 2 les pauls are even better. However, and this is just my opinion and you can do what you want to but, I personally would save and get a model above the studio. I understand about wanting a brand new guitar that no one else has ever played or put marks on. But really your gassing for another studio and you already have one. Why not get a new classic or traditional or maybe even a new SG standard if the money is a factor. This is just my opinion on what I would do if I were in your shoes.
  20. Well that makes it a little better!!
  21. with a broken hinge too and a Rat Fink sticker on it
  22. I just do not get it. But it does have a 5 ply pickguard!! https://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/gibson-custom-2017-limited-run-sg-standard-heavy-aged-electric-guitar?rNtt=gibson%20sg%20custom&index=1
  23. I guess I have kind of hi jacked the OP thread but am only curious myself. I pulled my pick up tonight and I believe mine has a long neck tennon. I will post pics tomorrow.
  24. Ok look....I see everything you have said about your les paul custom and also the pics. I have also acquired a new 2008 model with the same abr bridge with volume and tone knobs. However mine has different tuners. And I see you have the bumble bee caps and the poimters on the pots. Mine does not. You also have grovers and mine has gibson deluxe tuners. I called gibson yesterday and spoke with a rep. Named Raphael. I gave home my serial number and he said mine was just regular les paul custom. Now once I started to ask questions he dug deeper. I asked if candy apple red was a regular color for that year and he said no. He did see mine was candy apple red before I told him and said it was not a color for the line up in 2008. Then he told me it was probably an exclusive run model for a dealer. I bought it from the original owner about 5 days ago that got it from a guitar center in Illinois. But when I search for candy apple red les paul custom from 2008 there is nothing out there. So by looking at your pictures and Gibson saying it is not what you think it is, you too may have an Exclusive run les paul custom made for a certain dealer that has different features than what gibson would state in their system. By just looking at the pics you have posted, your has similar specs as what Wildwood Guitars out in the state of Colorado would offer for sell on their website. And if your curious here is a link to mine I put in the lounge. http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/145750-ngd-les-paul-custom-2008/
