thanks silverbursted, next time I am at Bizarre guitar I will try the r8 and r9 thru the vox they have there.

any thoughts on a les paul played thru a vox? I know the marshall sound, but I like the sound of the VOx AC 30, but haven't had a chance to play a les paul thru it. thanks

the guitar has a great crunch and sounds great clean too. i didn't know the value of these were going up so much as I play it quite a bit. I have resisted putting a pickguard on this for this reason. I like it better than the satin 335 as it has a bound fretboard. Gibson could have a made a lot more money if they continued to make the guitar at the price they were selling it for. it is really comfortable to play standing up

it is a great guitar. I have one in cherry red. I put in 57 and 57 plus pickups for a more PAF tone, the 490 and 498 were too rough for me. I keep thinking of getting natural 335, but have trouble justifying the price tag as I got this for $899 new....
