  1. That's 2019 serial#, Gibson changed their format awhile ago and you cant get the build day anymore, just the year which is the 1st 2 digits. Johnny
  2. How has Big Bill missed this?
  3. Hi Lukks; The poor pic was suspect, but the vids are proof, NOT real. Do not buy this, keep looking and good luck. Johnny
  4. The SG guitar Book 50 years of SG indicates small blocks start around '73 and bound necks end around '73. Looks like you've got a transition. And I'd say TV Yellow based on the pick up and cavity routes. Johnny
  5. That's what I'm talking about, SWEET!!!!!!!
  6. Where's the sample of your mad camera skills? Eagerly waiting
  7. Do you ever “store” a tuner on the head stock?
  8. Hi Me.; Looks like a modded SG-100 from the early 70's. Some one added a bridge pup and removed the tone for a switch. There was an SG-200 that had two of the single coils and sliders for each instead of a toggle. This look familiar http://www.guitartraders.com/5468 Hope that helps Johnny
  9. Hi John; I'm no expert by far, but I think this was used late nineties/early 2000 on some Elegant and Ultima Les Pauls. If I'm correct yours could be a 98. I dont think the Custom Shop as such until the early/mid 90's, so that lines up. Looks like an ebony board, so tells is that an Elegant or Ultima? Johnny
  10. Hi Syrion; Looks the real deal to me and in pretty good shape. Gibson used 8 digit serials for quite a few years. 1st and 5th digit give you the year. So in this case 91 is correct. Good Luck Johnny
  11. You can try these guys too, excellent to deal with. https://nextgenguitars.ca/products/generic-mini-switch-dpdt-on-off-on.html Hope that helps Johnny
  12. Hi Ole Hawk; While the parts you seek might be available, i doubt you will be able to buy them directly (unless you see them listed on this site under the gear tab at the top of the page). i would guess that you will have to find an authorized dealer and obtain the parts through them. Failing that keeping an eye on ebay reverb, kijji etc. Johnny
  13. Cute kitty, remember to keep it away from your cases ;) Johnny
  14. Considering that USA line production tops out at $3800 and Memphis at $4500 (per our hosts pages) not to even mention custom shop, where does the $1100 guitar fall? Top of the line or bottom? Looks like $1100 is a budget (near the bottom of the line) GIBSON and as such cant have all the bells and whistles. You dont have to like it, but it is what it is, want a sub $1000 guitar shaped like an LP with traps on the fingerboard, there are other options. Its all a matter of perspective, I once knew a guy who had a Jeep Grande Cherokee to drive around his dog as he didnt want it in his Mercedes or Rolls. The Jeep was his budget vehicle, didn't matter it was worth more than the truck I was driving at the time. that's my 2 cents Johnny
  15. Hey mihcmac; Not to be argumentative as you seem a knowledgeable person and are a heavy and positive contributor to the forum, but regardless of the manufacturer, type, or style of pot, if it is wired into the circuit in the same manner as the current stock pot the OP will still have the same issue of no volume in the middle if one pot is lowered or zeroed out. Just a function of 50's vs modern wiring. I fully agree that the sweep of a pot and the drop off will be impacted by all the previously mentioned attributes. Johnny
  16. Right and the fix is easy if handy with a soldering iron, just flip the two wires on the two legs on the volume pot, repeat for second pot. I wire all my 2 volume control guitars this way.
  17. Hey Aux; From what I can see the 339 is regular Memphis production these days and no longer Custom Shop. That said, I haven’t read any negatives about these Memphis builds. Johnny
  18. Hey Stevie; First thought was an Invader https://reverb.com/ca/p/gibson-invader-black-1984 Most Sonnex I remember had pick guards, but found one that didn't, Artist version, there may have been others. http://greenwichguitarslimited.co.uk/products/6-gibson-sonex-artist Not sure that's much help, but its all I got. Pics will help, other guys here are know their stuff and can probably nail it down for you. Johnny
