  1. Pippy is correct when he says you could never tell the difference blindfolded and just playing. My 25 / 50 is (mainly) maple and looks great and feels great. However, I perceive the main advantage of maple is stability and toughness. Maple necks tend to stay straight if they are straight in the first place and maple is a vastly tougher wood than mahogany.
  2. Good question and as I have never played either - I'd like to hear an opinion from those that have.
  3. My 1978 25 / 50 has a 5 piece maple neck (two walnut skunk stripes running right through) with an ebony board and I think it is great! EDIT: Obviously, I mean three pieces of maple!

    I'm based in London, England. Started playing the guitar aged 17 and have played on and off (a lot of off) since. I am now "getting on", as they say, but still bopping!
