Side by side comparison between an 84 Matsumoku and a 2022 NG. The wood grain really stands out on the 84 and is a deeper wine red. The headstock is noticeably slimmer and the placement of the scratch guard is closer to the cutaway on the 84. The binding also much thicker on the 84 which makes it look like a slimmer guitar from the side. The foil transfer E on the guard vs the black on the 84. Gibson style fret nibs on the 84. "Vol." vs "Volume" pots.
Nice pair. Could you please let me know how the two necks compare? Are different or similar? Thanks.

This is not an Epiphone headstock IMO.

Some guy was flipping a NG ES-355 for like $25K at one point in time in Italy..Crazy flippers everywhere. But on a NG Riviera? What were they asking? Double?
Yeah flippers have gone crazy, lately... around here I've seen the NG Riviera at 1599, obviously nobody bought it and now it is available at 1299. Still too much, in my book..

I’ve seen a few at local shops nearby me..Depending on where you are, they may have more or less supply..They are not flying off shelves here in my area..
I am based in Italy and they all sold out before reaching the shops. I am waiting for the second batch to be delivered. Around here a few are on sale, but at prices much higher than in the shops: some people bought these guitars just to flip them, what a shame.
Will post a pic when I get mine!

As I said in another thread, I ordered mine.
The shop told me that they expect to receive ten rivieras between October and March, not all at once, and they don't know when the first will be delivered. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long.

Hi @mimmo - the neck on the original and the reissue look / feel about the same to me.
Not too thin and not too chunky like a baseball bat.....somewhere in the middle.
The originals do not come up for sale very often so it could be a long time before you find one for sale on the used market.
Not sure what these are selling for now but expect to pay a premium price.
If you really want one, an option could be to buy the new reissue and sell this in future if you eventually manage to find an original Matsumoku model to replace it with.
Took me many years to find one - good luck with your search.Hi @AldoMcD1 thanks a lot for this detailed answer, much appreciated. I have followed your advice and pre-ordered my NG Riviera, now the waiting begins.
I have seen that you also got the signature 355, you have an amazing Noel Gallagher guitar collection! Hat off to you, sir.
@Hype thank you for your help.

Buy the NG Riviera it’s cheaper and it’s a repro of the original Matsumoku Riviera which costs much more.
Thanks Hype.
I have been windering about the new NG Riviera, byt I am not sure abiut the neck: the reissue has the slim taper neck, but I read somewhere that the originals have chunky necks. Do you know if it is true?

Hi folks
I have been looking for this guitar for a long time with no chance. I found one with the frequensator, but I am looking for the latest version with the 335-like bridge.
Should you want to sell it please PM me. I am based in Italy. Thanks.

There is something odd in the body/headstock combo: this model is not for me, thanks.
Please Epiphone, please: make a reissue of the Coronet as announced a few years ago, red, one P90, batwing headstock.
PLEASE!!!
