  1. Sorry, but I have to agree with some of the others. If you want a Les Paul that bad,you should work for it. You will appreciate it a whole lot more if you've earned the money yourself to get it. I speak from personal experience.
  2. I have to agree with everyone else. I was in the same situation as you a couple of months ago. Just get an Epi Les Paul, or get the Gibson. I wrestled with this over and over. Then I thought to myself, your not buy'in a set of strings or a strap. Guitars are a major purchase. I figured I should get something I knew I'd be happy with in the long run. So,I decided on a Gibson Les Paul Studio and couldn't be happier. If you are considering the Gibson, get it.
  3. I get my cords from an online site called monoprice. It's where I usually get my home theater cables. Just got a 15 foot from them $6.86 + $6.00 for shipping. It's a quality cable with gold ends.
  4. I have to agree with some of the others. I retired from music 18 years ago and was burned out so bad I didn't even listen to music for about a year. Then when I did, it was nothing like what I was playing. I recently hooked back up with an old friend who put together a recording studion in his basement. We've been writing and recording music and I'm lov'in it. Theres no lugg'in around a bunch of equipment (which I always hated) and trying to deal with 3-4 other guys that have their own ideas as to what you should be doing. We've all had that get a great band together and make it big dream. But there's nothing wrong with what we're doing now. I actually enjoy writing and recording more than playing clubs. There are a lot of web sites where you can upload your own stuff and have lots of people listen to it. I may not hear the applause, but I get a charge of seeing where my song is at on the charts!
  5. Congrats on the new guitar! I know the feeling of getting a new one as I've only had my wine red Studio for about 4 weeks now and am learning about it and lov'in it! I agree with you on the knobs. I don't get it. The black ones should look great. Enjoy!!

    strap locks

Just want to update on the Dunlops. It took a bit of work since the strap was sooo thick, but, I did finally get that sucker on! Once I figured out what I need to do, the one on the opposite end was a breeze. And, I'd like to say, they are on to stay! I tried out the new strap locks and they are very secure. Just a thought, maybe Gibson should think about making their own line of strap locks and have them pre-installed on their guitars.

    strap locks

Thanks to everybody for their input. I ended up getting the Dunlops (I know, I went against the status quo), but they were my preference. Plus, I was able to get them for $1.58 with the help of a $10 a gift certicate from Amazon, so I really couldn't pass it up! Best deal I ever got!!

    strap locks

Just got a wine red Les Paul Studio a couple of weeks ago and a new strap for it. The strap is a thick leather strap from Levy and I was wondering what kind of strap locks to use. I want to be able to protect my new investment, so I'm open to suggestions. Thanks in advance for your help!
