  1. murph yer a genius , i feckin love this type of stuff .
  2. i'm gonna forward this to my boss enjoy the SJ drew
  3. i agree with PM if anyones considering thumb picks , the fred kelly ones with the thin pick part i like ..., they make me less shite than the rest :D
  4. hi sawyer , nice to see another gibson fan . i can see why you like it so much , i'm not the songwriters biggest fan but thats very pretty has to be said. hopefully we'll get to hear the thing to with a video or two , theres half a dozen of us here who regularly annoy the other members by ruining favourite songs .
  5. was reading on the agf , seeing as nothing's happening here at the minute , about finish checking - who likes it and who doesnt is the point of that particular thread . i was wondering what causes it ? i am assuming that changes in temperature would speed it along ? if that is so then would it not be unwise to buy a guitar that has checking being an indication that it has been exposed to changes ? and yet i have read in the past of how people love it and would nearly be an encouraging thing when purchasing . does it start tiny and spread ? how old should a guitar be before you would expect to see checking ? any pictures would make this interesting :-)
  6. nice song big fella pretty little guitar too !
  7. that seems to be a decent explaination , i'm fully willing to accept that i maybe just dont hear things that others do ....
  8. PLEASE don't take this the wrong way , i'm glad you hear a difference , i'm nott a who's wrong and who's right kinda guy .... but why do you think you get a difference and i dont ? there must be something ... maybe i've just got useless ears , lord knows it might explain my playing ... anyone got a theory on this ? cant be the guitars because some of the 'believers' have more than one guitar as do the non-believers ..
  9. i'm kinda with you jed ... but still interested in it a little .... as with all avenues of discussion on here. i have changed the pins a couple of times .. just out of nosiness and also for aesthetics .... just like a new brand of strings every once in a while . i noticed nothing at all between the original , tusq and now bone ones ... i am baffled as to how only half the people notice a major change , and i get nothing !? all i can think is maybe as you suggest that the new pins allow a better meeting of the ball end and the guitar top ?
  10. i liked that a lot dan ! and it didnt sound out of your range at all , i like that laid back singing , sounded real nice , shame u didnt give the hat more of the star billing it deserves though :-) keep em coming
  11. great song , nothing wrong with that at all !
  12. well guys , went and looked at the two guitars . guy was a bit of a oddball . nice chap , but the lift didnt go all the way to the top . kinda wanted to get a shower after being in his house anyway , the grant was a nuce sounding little guitar , not based on a gibson after all but i think on an OM martin. but , bridge was beginning to lift and there was literally no saddle left at all , like break angle was 179 degrees. was a shame because it had a lovely light build to it . slightly fat neck , like a kalamazoo i once had a go on. the washburn didnt sound to bad but after the fourth fret or so i would need to grow a third arm to play it to enable me to use two hands to make bar chords such was the action. nice slide guitar maybe :-) upshot is .. if any of you see a grant acoustic for sale near you they are worth having a look at if you find one better looked after than this one was
  13. the guy is only looking a few quid , i'll check 'em out . cant find a single image for a grant acoustic. says it comes with a hard case . little info. the washburn is 2 tone :-l , which i assume is sunburst . makes me think the guy isnt a guitarist . and he has no pictures which is unheard of these days ! god knows what theyre like .lol
  14. sounds plausible for sure , what's MIJ ? made in japan ??
  15. mistake in the guys email to me , the advert says D5 washburn good grief all you guys across the pond , i'm located in ireland , chances are it will be the japanese grants from 70's i'll go look at the guitars tomorrow is all i can do i guess thanks for your inputs , much appreciated
