  1. I'm guessing you're not looking for a Gibson F5. I remember you having a mandolin a few years back. I cannot speak on this one but was really impressed with the Cosey guitar I bought from them a few years ago. It was a carved top and back and all the workmanship was top notch. I did not care for the hardware and swapped it out. I looked on their site and saw this. Looks good to me and if you sign up you'll get an extra 10% off. I'm half tempted to get one. Would fit you well playing out with the pickup. Coupert will get you 15% off.

Based on the reported shipping figures you have a 1 in 500 chance this is the guitar Cat played.

    And that’s ‘played’, not owned.
About like my ‘52 J45. It was owned by a neighbor of Lonnie Mack and he was supposed to have played it on occasions when visiting. Gives the guitar an interesting story but that’s all.

Thanks for the input, exactly what I was wanting to hear.  Surprised you like the neck, since you say you don't like large necks, I thought these ones had 1.77" nut with about .85" of depth which is a lot bigger than most modern acoustics these days.  I will admit of the current Historic I am most interested in the SJ Banner like yours, the J45 Banner, the Advanced Jumbo and the J35, Also the Pre War Rosewood J200, but those seem to be pretty dang rare.

The neck feels good for me. The Legend has a baseball bat chunky neck. I can get around it but I'm not going to be wrapping that thumb around. After a year or two with the SJ, I moved the Legend. I've got some slim taper necks but don't like a wide nut with that shape. The standard 1.724" nut feels better with the slim taper. For me, The C shape works better with a 1.75"-1.77" nut.

  4. I ordered one of the '42 SJ Banners in 2019 and received it in 2020.

Couldn't be happier with it. I like the sound of the aged top and I like the C shaped neck. As I'm getting older, I prefer not to wrestle with the larger thicker necks. This one feels great.

    Shown here next to a 2010 J45 Legend and a 1952 J45.

I just uploaded this picture to Imgur.

    I clicked on post picture.

Below showed up, I right clicked the mouse, clicked on Copy image link, then pasted that link into this response (see bottom picture)

    Hope it helps

  6. Very informative. I think 1:05 may had added a nick to the Nick. I have a newer NL 12 fret RW that I like a lot. I like his thinking on older guitars. When I first started getting into vintage guitars, I didn't worry if a neck reset was needed. I've since changed my mind. I think they lose something in the repair. I'm probably just impatient. I have a '42 LG1 that's never had the neck off, and it doesn't need to.

I was there - but very young, , , still had and enjoyed the records. You probably won't be able to imagine how big they were.                                That means everywhere - also in the camps that didn't understand or like them.

When Alfred himself joins the wave there not much left to discuss - says it all.

Alfred Hitchcock does his best Ringo impression in a Beatles wig, 1964 : r/ beatles

Don't know what he thought of the band, but he sure drummed the vibe up. . .

I was really into them (and Alfred). Everywhere you looked, people were emulating them pretty much like when Elvis made it big.  Here's Bob Hope and Dean Martin. And then Chet. His Picks on The Beatles is one of my favorites.
