Can you give me ball park price range for the Gibson L00? (obviously not holding you to actual purchase price). I think the shorter scale Gibsons may be a great place to start for me. (amongst a few other acoustic makers)
Used - I've noticed the L00 does not hold its value very well probably due to popularity. The Standard models can be had every day for under $1600.
Their current line up is fairly limited. Bang for the buck looks to be the G-00. They're all short scale. If you search you can find some special runs out there.
A good dealer should give you 15%-20% off except on the G series.
G-00 - Natural $999.00 - Spruce over walnut, Advanced Response neck shape, no electronics, plug up the port hole if you don't like it.
L-00 Standard - Vintage Sunburst or Ebony - $2,999.00 - Spruce over mahogany, slim taper neck, LR Baggs VTC
L-00 Deluxe - Rosewood Burst $3,999.00- Spruce over rosewood, slim taper neck, LR Baggs VTC, extra bling
The ones I have -
L00 1932 RI - Similar to the Legend model without the VOS finish. Spruce over mahogany, V neck, long scale, wide bridge string spacing
Nick Lucas Mystic Rosewood - 12 fret, deep body, standard C neck, short scale
Genuine Mahogany L00, 14 fret, Mahogany over Mahogany
M2M L00, Aged Spruce over rosewood, short scale, slim taper neck.

Just my opinion, as long as there is not a neck angle or truss rod issue, any guitar can be setup to your liking. As some other considerations (some already mentioned), neck shape, nut width, string spacing at the bridge, string tension (scale length and string choice), tone woods, bracing, body style and probably a few things I forgot, all go into the equation. I've setup some very inexpensive guitars for friends with them saying it was the best guitar they've ever played. Gibson-wise, if the J45 (Gibson's dread) is too large they are many models to start stepping down. The G series is still 16" wide but thinner as is the J180 body. Then the J165 body, L00, LG and so on. Many models in that mix. I have a wide range of models from the Super 400 to the LG. The L00 seems to work the best for me comfort-wise.

Brown Dove In Flight. whoa.
I like it and that darker guard.

I think it's been going downhill for a few years due to lack of demand. In 2014, I wanted a Mandolin F5 and had to order it. In 2014, I bought an L5P. It was one of 10 they built that year.

I wasn’t going to say it 😄 I did go in and visit with my DIF after reading this thread yesterday
If you have a DIF, you probably don't look at or yearn for a Dove.

This Regal came with the covers. The tuner buttons were plastic with what looks like aluminum paint. Two were missing and the others looked ragged. I found these new kluson that matched.

Can you loan me the 000-15 CS? I dig Martin’s necks, and their guitars.
That’s the one I sold this past week on eBay or I would had.
-
I like the tone of a good mahogany top. I have two and just sold another one last week.
The Martin 000 15 CS was real nice looking and sounding but like Johnson, I didn't care for the neck.
The other two are Gibson's. One is a '42 LG1 like Tom B and John T have. The other is a newer L00 Genuine Mahogany (actual model name). If you were a righty, I'd loan you one.

Update - it is a cutaway and looks more like an L7C with an add on pickup. I can't find anywhere they offered an electric version of the guitar.

Thanks Dave. I initially searched for an L5 but it didn’t look like it at all. Was thinking maybe 350.
Actually don’t think it’s an L4, cos I saw another picture and there are 2 pickups. Perhaps maybe an L4 with double pickups?
Like Sarge, I think that's an acoustic non cutaway with the pickguard/pickups added.
Like KS, I think it may be a 17" L7. I thought the picture I posted above was an L4 but it's an L7 with the bound headstock. The L4 below doesn't have the bound headstock.
-
Except for the tailpiece and the add-on pickguard with the pickup as mentioned by Sarge, it looks like a Super 300
Another more likely guitar is an L4. Here's one shown on eBay.

You still sound good to me. Guitar sounds good too.
I like low action. I usually shoot for .012" thru .022" at the first, .040" thru .060" at the 12th, Neck relief .000"-.003" plus make sure there are no high frets.
A couple of the times that I've missed my mark and got too low, it worked very well. That doesn't happen all the time.
I've come to like the Custom Light gage strings. Music Villa setup the J45 I recently bought from them based on my preference and it feels and plays great. They put on D'Addario XS Phosphor Bronze Coated. I was so impressed with them, I bought some more and put a set on the '52 J45 and '68 J50 so I can compare them. TBD. I also have to measure everything to see why the new J45 feels so much better than the others.

I don’t think Joe Bonamassa buys stuff from Reverb.
I have to give a company a certain percentage of what I make on my guitar just because I can post my picture on their site. And Reverb states you have to try to sell the guitar for what it’s worth. Why? Oh cause the more you get the more % they get. You can do it. I’m not. If it was a flat $10 or $15 dollar fee to post I would have no issue, but if I sell a guitar for $5000 they get $500 of it? F Off.
Most consignment shops with national exposure get 25%
eBay rates are below but the gimmick is the buyer pays the cost of item + taxes + shipping then eBay uses that as the total amount to charge a fee. The good thing is after the buyer pays a large shipping fee, eBay gets you a 50-75% discount that you get to keep.
- 6.35% on total amount of the sale up to $7,500 calculated per item
- 2.35% on the portion of the sale over $7,500

Gibson Les Paul Traditional 2011 SPECS? | My Les Paul Forum
In 2011 there were few models of Traditional, but I guess you're asking about Standard Traditional 2008-2012.
- what exact colors where available by 2011 and how where they called?
2008-2012 finishes:
LPTDEBCH1 ( Ebony )
LPTDGTCH1 ( Goldtop )
LPTD+HSCH1 ( Heritage Cherry Sunburst )
LPTD+DBCH1 ( Desert Burst )
LPTD+ITCH1 ( Iced Tea )
LPTD+LBCH1 ( Light Burst )
LPTD+WRCH1 ( Wine Red )
LPTD+HBCH1 ( Honey Burst )
LPTD+CBCH1 ( Chicago Blue )- what pickups would be stock in this guitar?
'57 Classic + in bridge position
57 Classic in neck position- what would the fretboard material be made of? East Indian Rosewood? Backed Maple? Granadillo? BRW.... ;)
1 piece rosewood for 2008-2011
2 pieces rosewood for 2012- is the electronics on a circurit board or old school pots?
Electronics is on the metal plate with standard pots, not PCB.
- neck profile?
'50s- was there a Gibson case included?
Yes - black with white interior.
-
Plus all their fees went up. They are more expensive than eBay. I've just sold guitars on eBay. 7% fee and got a 75% discount on FEDEX shipping. From KY to TX, $24. From KY to CA $44.

Being well into my 70s I can safely say they do not. And I am coming from the perspective of being privileged to play a 1932 12 fret L1. What they can do though is no matter how old and curmudgeonly you are is to help you get through the bad times while they make the good times great.
Maybe a new guitar will make you feel young 🙂
It will make you feel poorer 🙂

Ooh! Please tell me about that Bigsby pedal!
I was in a habit of slapping a Bigsby on every guitar I owned. I bought this to cure it. Works good, sounds genuine.

There's plenty of Custom Sound Hole inserts places. I would go that route.

Keeping it simple. Looper, Delay, Tremelo

Thank you both - I appreciate your thoughts - and your advice. We’re above Manchester so I’m going to have a proper look at Reverb and Fretboard and see which works best for us.
Thanks again.
Don't forget eBay. They only charge 7% commission, give the seller great shipping discounts and will handle international sales. I used to use Reverb, but since they got bought out a few years ago their commission is around 10% and no breaks on the shipping. I quit using them. It's definitely not the same company Chicago Music Exchange set up years ago.
I'm too stupid to work on my guitars
