  1. I've had an epi dot for few years.I replaced the pickups to GFS vintage 59's from guitarfetish.com shortly after getting the dot. Thts made s huge improvement in my opinion. I should have and still should go little farther and replace the volume and tone electrics and the pickup selector switch. Probably not the easist job on a semi hollow though. But I am pretty content with where its at. It would be better yet if I did like I mentioned but its not anything to look down on the way it is now. I have some before and after tone sample s ,if interested in hearing I can send it to you.

  2. Disclaimer- I work at Sam Ash. There is no difference in the 339s.

That being said, Sam Ash retail locations will match ANY legit sales price, even if it is their own (ie that amazon price). You can call up your local location (or any Sam Ash location) and or visit the brick and mortar location and get that same price from Amazon. Also, if you find a lower price anywhere (from a legit dealer) within 60 days of your purchase, Sam Ash will refund you that difference (with some restrictions, ie demo models, factory seconds, discontinued merchandise, and floor samples are not included, also, products advertised must be in stock at the advertised dealer and be a factory-sealed new product).

So is it something like the major music vendors can't or won't go under a certain price,in this case,$399,but a non music vendor such as amazon can for a limited amount of guitars even if they come from a music vendor?

I mean is this this way year round or just the holidays? If people catcch on to this which I just have,I would just as well buy my online guitar purchases from amazon instead of an actual music vendor to get the low price with no tactics or games.

I looked at amazon as a last ditch look and ended up saving $40. Looking at other guitars soid at amazon vs the main music vendors, amazon usually is lower. Thats kind of messed up.

Its confusing but now I know to not be afraid to check amazon for guitars and music purchases.

  3. Way to go dude.

    Yeee Yeeee Yeeeee................Live action!

So I ordered one from amazon tonight. Long story but basically I am ,from what I can tell, geting a new one for $359 vs the $399 price at most vendors. From what I can tell it is not a second, blemish or refurbish. Hopefully not but I can't tell why it is less money. Its odd. It ships from sam ash but bought thru amazon. When I go to sam ashh website ,the same exact guitar sells there for $40 more,at $399. So I don't know what the deal is there.Hopefully I did ok and not getting a problem guitar or something.

Anyways, congrats on yours . So you've had her a while now, whats you opinion at this point?Any complaints or whats the good and he bad? What do you think of the pickups?I see the tuners look like Gibson tuners with the plastic keys vs the chrome ones epi usually uses.

I have a number of guitars, few gibsons, few epis,a gretsch ,fender and few others. I do have an epi dot which I've had few years now. I bought that near the time when gibson showcased the 339. I didn't have the $ for the gibson 339 back then and was kinda hoping epi would eventually make one.I changed the stock dot pickups over to gfs vintage pickups and got that sounding nice.

  4. can anyone tell me what I am missing or not seeing or getting with this:

Amazon sells this 339 pro for $359.It states its new,in other words, not refurbished or a second or blemished. it states it comes from Sam ash. I go to sam ash and I see them selling from what I can tell is the same exact guitar for $399. How or why can they sell it at amazon for $40 less?

So can anyone tell if there is something different with the guitar here being sold at amazon for $359 vs the ones sold at sam ash, guitarcenter, musiciansfirnd, etc for $399?

THe black friday gimic at musicians friend was a let down. It said 15% off items except certain exclusions. I put the 339 pro in my cart and found it was one of the excluded items. Then you look a the excluded black friday list and its huge. Its like there can't be a heck of alot that would qualify afer reading the exclusion list.

  5. buying used anything can be that way.Its the headache of buying used. With patience and luck you can at imes also find some good deals. Its the weeding thru the bs that gets frustrating. I was helping my kid look for a used car and was watching craigslist. I ended up finding a sweetdeal. It was a one owner car ,maintained well, real nice shape for decent price. It took 3 months of weeding thru bs posts. I would drive me nuts when so many people would post that the car blue books for this or that price, but they used that as a price guage always quoting the blue book value of a car in excellent condition. The cars were NEVER in excellent condition. Most were in fair condition at best. It breaks down the criteria on the blue book site based on if the vehicle has dents, rust, mileage, etc as far as what condition it is in and that dictates the value.About every single time someone used the blue book price in attempt to say their vehicle is worth a certain price, they always went off the excellent condition for their car.Drove me crazy. There is quite a difference in blue book value from a fair condition vehicel to an excellent condition vehicle

  6. My Epi Dot has an excellent sound for an Epi. I think the Dot is Epiphone's best deal they have going.

I think it gives my Gibson LP a run tone wise.

I do however find the Epi Dot goes out of tune alot easier and more frequently than any of my other guitars.

I am not sure the reason for this.I don't think it has anything to do with it being a semi hollow or anything to do with the wood.

Possibly something with the tuners,,he nut or bridge maybe? I have yet to figure it out.

  8. Either he is talking about the server slowing down sometime or the in fighting that has been going over.

Maybe I misread stuff over there.I wasn't there much and when I did check in ,it seemed there was some big falling apart with senior members leaving or something

  9. I don't spend all that much time in forums, for sure not enough to keep up to everything.Does anyone know what happened in MLp forum ? I am afraid to ask over there and wasn't able to find it by searching, but looks like there was some type of big faalling out of some type.

  10. I like that show too. You know what always is interesting to me onj that show is how people bring an item in to sell it to the shop and think the pawn shop is going to give them face value for the item. Then Rick explains how he can't do it because he needs to make money on it after selling it.People often don't get it and get upset.I can't figureout why they don't try selling thier item at an auction or outright if they want to squeeze every penny they can out of it instead of going to a pawn shop with it ,thinking it will happen there.Pawn shop is more of a quick sell, fast cash option.
