  1. Well the only thing id say to that is the locking tuners are ACE, your in tune within one turn of the tuner.. apart from that it doesnt make a huge amount of difference.. (its not like you cant fit some to one of the older models or visa versa :) )

Not at all.. and anyone I know who has one (a guitar version) loves it to death.. They are different for sure but dont knock it till yo try it :P
  3. I think that maybe you got a Les Paul Standard that was made in 2008 rather than a 2008 Standard... if you see what I mean. Of course thats an assumption.. What year was it made in? Maybe stick some pics up for us. For instance I also have a 2008 Standard that I actually bought and was made in 2011.
  4. You beat me to it :P
  5. have you tried P90s? Theres quite a few guitars now with them on it.. Gives you a different sound and look to the humbucker guitars (I love them personally)... The 50s and 60s Tribute Studios are just awesome for the price you pay.. Down to you in the end though. As many of the folk here said, getting a new paint job where they must strip and re-spray is a long and expenive process.. If your prepared to pay that much for a new colour, you may as well get one thats already done :) Or as someone else said on here, maybe your better off trying to change the hardware first to chrome or ni
  6. Yes id also agree that its probably more down to the strength in your hands that needs to be built up... Ive been helping my brother in law learn guitar and he had the same issues as you... Hes now been playing for two years and is only just comfortable making barre chords and he has himself noticed the strength issue and knows that he just has to keep it up.. As people have said, chances are that neck size wont be your issue.. Just keep up the practicing and you will find it easier over time. Also as someone else said here, if you have an acoustic, try practicing on that then

I know.. it was the same with the Baked Maple.. People moaned and moaned about it which did have something to do with the fact that Gibson pictured them with a very light colour but in the end they were as dark as Rosewood. When I actually saw it for the first time no one in the Guitar shop could even tell me if it was Rosewood or BM as it was so similar in looks. I had to email Gibson in the end to find out it was Baked Maple and you know what, I think I prefer it to Rosewood, its way smoother so plays faster and looks just as good.

Well id say in this case whats to know.. Its a LP studio... Most of us have probably played a Studio.. So its just a case of if you like the colour and want a tremlo... and I like neither of those things so its a big no no for me (Les Pauls with Tremlos just dont look right to me).. As for the Richlite board, I havent actually tried one.. But have read stories about how bad it is, one guy said that every time he played his Gibson with that fingerboard a black residue is left on his fingers.. maybe he had a bad one but ive read a few stories that would make me VERY weary of getting one.
  9. I did that... none of them mention a tool, just the adjustment literature.. and on the guitar I did get the tool with (Firebird 2011) it doesnt say it comes with one.....???????
  10. Id agree with that.. Dont ruin your baby.. Go spend the money on getting another guitar........... I used to think the same way, whats the point in having more than one electric guitar.. In the ened I started looking for a guitar to muck around on as my LP is real heavy.. So I got a LP Double Cut faded (like a quater of the price of a standard) which I didnt regret.. Yes it did mean my main LP didnt get played quite as much but I still use it every time for recording or jamming... Since then I now have five Gibsons (that was like 3 years ago) :) it becomes an addiction, but a gre
  11. Check this NAMM 2012 video it shows just that ;)
  12. Do official Gibson people comment on these forums? It would be good to hear the official Gibson line on this as if its meant to come with a truss rod tool and adjustment litrature and doesnt I would demand it from the shop I buy from. (and kinda goes with my theory that they wouldnt put adjustment litrature in without the tool as that would be silly)..

Haha.. family fortunes... I never thought id miss Bob Monkhouse until Les Dennis took over :)
  14. I have the same problem with my SG EB3 bass.. Its a huge shame it does that as everything else about it is perfect. And the button for the strap is at the back of the guitar but it still dives.. really annoying... Anyone know any other good solutions?

I hear you on that... But then when they released the Classic Custom they showed the Baked Maple as being really light, yet when they actually shipped the colour was actually almost the same as Rosewood.. So i wonder what will happen here?

They have the SG version up now http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/SG/Gibson-USA/SG-Diablo-Tremolo.aspx I wonder why they went with Richlite for the LP yet gave the SG American Rosewood???? Id always want my guitar to be made of wood. The idea of fake wood materials doesnt sit well with me (and ive read several bad stories about it).
  17. Now on the main site http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/SG/Gibson-USA/SG-Diablo-Tremolo.aspx

Bearly Finished Guitar.. and they are just that... the original guitar versions didnt even come with a trussrod cover and the whole guitar has the thinnest coat of laquer so it litterally feels like a block of wood.. but in all the best ways :) (the necks on the BGFs have a satin finish too and are great).
  20. One other thing about these babies.. I dont know what it is about them but the tuners on this guitar are the best ive ever had (I am usually a Les Paul person but wanted something different).. I have guitars with classic tombstones, grover kidneys and locking grovers that all go slightly out between plays.. But these ones stay in tune no matter what.. It came out of the box in tune and after a few days of playing was still in tune.. just amazing (in fact it only went out of tune once when I initially changed the action).. Still loving this guitar (but I will always be a Les Paul m
  21. Sweet choice man... and good on you for being fussy.. for that price, so you should... Its well worth taking the time to find that perfect guitar, I hope the one you get next week is what your looking for.. if not it will be worth keeping up your search to find that one thats waiting for you... (for some of us its more like five :P ) Ahhh that new guitar buzz... theres just nothing like a day speant looking for your perfect baby.. Will certainly be interested to see what you end up with.. I have NEVER regretted buying a Les Paul even though alot of people out there ***** about the pr
  22. I just did a filter in the site for Gibson USA, left handed.. 4 resluts.. thats quite shocking really you should take them to court for breaching your human rights to own the same Gibsons that right handed people do :P
  23. Yes sorry.. right you both are... Didnt mean to be leftist :) and yes in that case the Traditional or the 08 Standard are probably your best bet..
  24. The new Classic Custom is pretty awesome too (getting GREAT reviews).. If I was going to get a new LP at around that price id probably have to go for the Classic Plus, I personally love that pickup combo of 496R and T500 which are uncovered and hot hot hot (and the colours are amazing)... But as stated above it comes down to personal taste. Best thing to do is go try them, they are all great guitars :)
