  1. Amazing and magnificent instruments. No matter the model, a J-45 that hits your sweet spot is one of the most wonderful feelings, me thinks. But... where are the pictures of your new companion?
  2. There is a venue for us - the Gibson Homecoming in Bozeman is coming up in early June - it will include a tour of the newly expanded acoustic factory in Bozeman - open mics each night, and the opportunity to meet up with fellow Gibson guitar aficionados to collaborate, play, spill coffee, and even visit Ren Fergusons shop, and talk everything Gibson. Even get to meet some of the company brass. 2022 GIBSON HOMECOMING SCHEDULE 17TH ANNUAL JUNE 13th MONDAY 7:00 - 9:00 MEET & GREET -GRAN TREE PATIO OR BAR (depending on the weather) JUNE 14TH TUESDAY 9:00 - 10:30 - FREE TIME 10:00 - 11:30 - GIBSON GUITAR ACOUSTIC STAFF TALKING SHOP 11:30 - 1:00 - FREE TIME / LUNCH 1:00 - 3:30 - FREE TIME 4:00 - 6:30 - DINNER 7:00 - 10:00 - MIKE GOECKE OPEN MIC(COMFORT INN CONFERENCE ROOM) JUNE 15TH WEDNESDAY 10:00 - 12:00 GIBSON PLANT TOUR 12:00-1:00- FREE TIME / LUNCH 1:00 - 2:30 - TOUR OF VAL'S SHOP (312 PEARL DRIVE, BELGRADE) 3:00 - 5:30 - TOUR OF RENS SHOP (1679 BANDOLLERO DRIVE, BELGRADE) 5:30 - 7:00 - DINNER 7:00 - 9:00 –BOB RIEMENSCHNEIDER OPEN MIC (COMFORT INN CONF. 3. My neighbor and his bother had a duo - one played accordion and one played the "thumper" (washtub bass) depending upon how much beer was flowing they were pretty good.
  4. That taper is part of the intentional design - all of the Gibson guitars I've ever owned sport that look.
  5. Innaresting song M - loved the playing, and it got me ponderin' - I think you're right , there usually ain't.
  6. Very cool. Classic 1960s film production, a near and dear topic and worth the watch. Good find !

  8. Contacted the artist - it’s a 1932 L-00. Very cool.
  9. I cannot find this in any of the current collections- a little 12 fret fingerpickers tone monster
  10. It was a thoroughbred. nicely focused mids but could roar. Very even across all the strings. Was quite a treat.
  11. https://imgur.com/a/PTgH4Sv got to play Ren’s first dread this summer . Really interesting neck profile - big and full, with a bit of a V favoring the thumb side just a teeny bit - best neck I’ve ever played. Sound? Well, pretty flipping spectacular.
  12. Astoundingly fun to play as I recall from younger days - talk about growl. Get thee a Marshall half stack.

  14. Nice recording. Is that a sticker on the lower bout?
  15. J- Em7 is of the belief that the ADJ is fine. I had a 57 J50 and one of the first things I did was have all the hardware removed and replaced with a fixed bridge. I did not note any appreciable difference in tone.
  16. Yep - its a cable clip that lost its adhesive grip. If it has lost its stickiness you can get another for pennies - it is just used to control/contain the wires from the pick up.
  17. Gawd this sounds crazy good with the new strings. Robust and raw.
  18. How did you come by this one? Rare beast indeed.
  19. I'd like to send you a private message.

  20. Lars - this is pretty good. Nice guitar and voice. What guitar did you use? Recording is very nice, I am still baffled at how folks do this, I am so technically challenged I can't begin to progress out of the rudimentary stage of a sloppy I-Phone recording that serves little purpose but to remind me of the melody and lyrics I write. I like the message here in this song - It speaks to me of the deep scar we are experiencing world wide. I cannot help but want to take a red pencil to your lyrics - when I listen to this over and over I cannot escape the feeling that the lyrical timing stumbles a bit interrupting the melodic tempo. I am addicted to simplicity. If you would permit me, I'd like to send you my initial suggestions targeted at syllables. I think there are some easy approaches to reduce some of the lyrical difficulties and smooth out this song without changing the message at all. Please keep writing, your stuff is getting better and better. I would love be sitting on a couch sipping bourbon and listening to your concert catologing your original songs, this is great - its exactly, to me, the stuff that Gibson guitars were built for.
  21. Enjoyed that song - love tone you coax out of that palm muting technique.
