  1. Not sure what you mean by "the go" but a Standard Plus is just a Standard with a nicer top.
  2. Thank you all for the comments! Spent hours playing yesterday! The back and neck are indeed black, and the binding and plastic parts are a cream color. While at first I thought the color combination was a bit awkward, now it all just seems to fit together. I thought about getting some black speed knobs, but then again I kind of like the look of the gold knobs. I doubt I will mount the pickguard though, as I don't really feel like disrupting the flame or drilling a hole in the guitar...
  3. Aye, this is only my second Gibson. My first Les Paul was a 1993 Wine Red Studio, which is a fantastic guitar. I was going to order a 2013 Alpine White Studio when this Standard caught my eye, so to speak, and I fell in love with the idea of being able to get a Translucent Black Standard!
  4. I had been waiting for this to come, and the knock finally happened! My wife even set up a chair near the door this morning, as a joke... I am so pleased I am posting this everywhere! Here is the New Gear/Guitar, my first Les Paul with binding! I know the NGD threads are a dime a dozen, but the best NGD posts are when you get to post them! Thanks for looking!
  5. Thanks BobB, I actually tried that, the only information I could find on the case was a "Southco" on the latches themselves. I checked and located their web site but they're a latch making company, found over center draw latches close to the originals but about half the width. I was able to locate contact information for Dr. Vintage, and sent him an email. I am sure something can be worked out. I really like the case, was just trying to keep it close to original and saw someone mention that even the plastic latches could be replaced. Thanks again for taking the time to help, I may be looking for something that has been out of production way too long...
  6. Sorry if this is the wrong area, but I have a Gibson Protector case (Gen 1) with the plastic latches (3) for my LP Studio. One of the latches is broken, but still latches (half the latch lip broke off), and I was wondering if it was replaceable? I did several searches and found reference to "Dr. Vintage" on other sites (MLP, LPF) who had replacement plastic latches (circa 2008-2009), but I could not find any further reference or links to a web site that may have them. I even tried to search the Southco web site for a replacement latch with no luck. Any help would be appreciated!
  7. Here are my rides: 2002 Pontiac Trans Am Firehawk #0548 - LME built LSX 454 stroker. 2003 Ford Lightning #894 - bolt-ons, waiting for a 2.3 Whipple. 2007 Yamaha YZF-R1 - cosmetics mods (levers, screen, etc) 2009 Suzuki DL650 V-Strom (Weestrom)- cosmetic mods, crash bars etc - commuter.
  8. Thanks for the PSA, I really do hope they are able to recover some of their gear. I think more people will be carrying their portable equipment into the room with them. I do the same if I am travelling or carrying stuff like that with me, just park it in the room next to me. Not feasible for everything, but heck at least my Les Paul or Stratocaster would be sleeping nearby.
  9. Kind of what I figured after reading a bit, but thank you for confirming my thoughts on it! Been away from playing for a while and glad there is a great resource, like this forum, where I can pick the brain of more experienced members! I hope it works out for you brother, that is a beautiful guitar!
  10. I am kind of having the same issue with my "new to me " studio, and only a few strings (namely the G and B strings). Although in my case I did lower the action a bit... Subscribing to see the outcome.
  11. Just adding my new to me 1993 Wine Red Studio to the thread!
