  1. Welcome...lots to see and learn here. Great site...good people.
  2. I saw the band back in '69 in NYC. At the end of their set, Alvin threw his guitar about fifteen feet into the air and let if hit the stage and walked off. The crowd had been very rude to the band when they first started their set. They closed with "Coming home" and the crowd went nuts. I think that was his way of giving the crowd the reverse "V" that the Brits use instead of the middle finger.
  3. British Walkers...I found you. Loved that song back in '65?? Ride Captain Ride...Blues Image??
  4. Thanks for the advice/opinions. I will have to break down and try to find a reputable source for Switchcraft toggles. I really like my Eppys, but the hassle for a working musician is something I don't need.
  5. I've got two nice Espy guitars. A Joe Pass Emperor II and a 335 pro model. I can't keep pickup selector switches in either one. They last for a few months and stop working. The Joe Pass' switch has been replaced 4 times in 9 years, and now the 335 pro's switch is acting up. Whats their story? Are they using junk parts? My 2 Gibson LPs have selector switches in them and are still going strong after 16 years of playing? Whats the diff??
  6. Well, its been just over a month since my disaster of accidentally ordering two guitars. I contacted the credit card company immediately, and they were aware of this scam already. They said the cc info was used to tap into bank accounts. I have not had any attempts on my accounts nor have I ever received confirmation that my order was cancelled after my repeated requests for confirmation. So far so good. Now there are two or three more companies with ridiculously low prices for name brand guitars being advertised on social media. I don't even look at their products anymore.
  7. I was taken in by one of these cheap guitar sites. Yes, I knew they weren't real American made guitars, but the finishes were delightful. Long story short, I accidentally ordered two of the same guitar. Their site was super slow, so I hit send again. I ended up with two of the exact same guitars. I have been trying to cancel my order for the past week. They do not respond, but they do promise a 10% charge for cancelled orders. That in itself is a rip off because they aren't actually "re-stocking" ANYTHING. The guitars haven't shipped. Should I ever be billed, you can bet I will contest the charge. Buyer beware of MUSIC SHOPS FOR MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS AND RECORDING EQUIPMENT.
  8. Welcome to the forum.

  9. I had a "tweed" Gibson amp with a single 12" in it. Great little amp. Like a dummy, when I worked for a company that built all the amp boxes for Fender, Ampeg and Polytone, I had it recovered in standard black tolex and "spruced" it up with a Fender handle and chrome corners. Stupid I know. I still have the handle with Gibson on it somewhere.
  10. Maddie...I learned something today...a toggle switch thats also a potentiometer...will wonders never cease?? Then again I never heard of a Kirk Douglas SG...shows you how little know.
  11. Depending on where you live, you could also try Stewart MacDonald, or any number of guitar replacement part on line stores. I have never heard the word "togpot" before. When ordering I would look under pick up selector switch or toggle switch
  12. This is the reason I now have a pair of '72 ES355 pups. I just removed the covers, and buffed them out. Are they perfect?? Not really, but they work!! They guy wanted an arm and a leg for the guitar, but he gave me the pups thinking they were unsalvageable. Now if I could just figure out how to get them into my Joe Pass........
  13. REV... people like you are the reason I get up every day. You are a good man...willing to help others. Hats off to you sir!!! You have all my respect.
  14. Greetings, I'm Bill from Florida. I have several acoustics, but my fave is my Pete Townsend signature J200 given to me by my musical partner before he passed away from agent orange induced cancer two years ago.
  15. You say she is 25?? Then she knows right from wrong. Already has a rap sheet?? Press charges...prosecute her to fullest extent of the law. Do NOT let her off...thats just giving her a chance to screw up again and again ...and trust me...she will. You may not get a cent from her, but she won't have her freedom or a chance to make others miserable again for a long time. JMHOI
  16. I have two Epis...an LP and a Joe Pass. Both have already paid for them selves...good sounding, easy to play and great looking instruments. No complaints here. IMHO... you can't beat them for the price.
  17. Educate me here...what is the purpose/advantage of tuning down to C#?
  18. I just experienced a similar problem with my LPDC. I loosened the "G" and rubbed candle wax over the nut. Problem solved. This guitar is 5 years old and has only been played maybe a dozen times. So its like brand new. I have to do the same thing with my J200 when I change strings. The "G" is wound and always hangs up in the nut. A little wax and its ready for Freddy.
  19. My LP traditional is named after my mom...she gave it to me right before she died. My LPDC is named after my wife Pam...she bought it for me for Christmas, and my Eppy LP is named is Raquel...after Miss Welsh.
  20. Big Kahune... thanks for that info...I'm glad you also agree it is a goof. I offered to send the folks at Gibson a photo of the double cut when they said the product code was that of an SG, but they said their email wasn't set up to accept photos. Oh well we all know its a Double Cut..NOT an SG.
  21. Thanks Steve..I appreciate the confirmation.
  22. This post made me curious as to a problem I had when registering my LP Double Cut. They told me the numbers came back to an SG model. WHAT?? Its a Double Cut. Here is the Model # LPDCROCH1. HOWEVER... the product code is SGSCWBCH1. Would someone please trasnslate these?? This guitar was purchased on 12/29/07 I think the Model # would be translated as Les Paul Double Cut Root Beer Chrome Hardware 1st run. The other one is a total mystery except for the SG part. Thanks for any translation. Okay after digging around in my files I found this paperwork on another Les Paul... The Model # is LPTLBNH. I've learned that this one was made in November of 2003. THis Model number needs a little help in translation. I got the Les Paul and the Nashville. The LB is the color(???) but the "T" is still a mystery (traditional?). LB= light blonde?? I don't think so....... its a reddish orange burst finish. Probably means light burst.
  23. Here here...I have nine guitars with Jim Dunlop "push button" strap locks. Three LPs, a "P" bass, two strats, two teles, and an Eppy Emperor II. I never think twice about one hitting the ground AND I can use the same strap for every one of them.
