  1. EM. Interesting and true. I asked a Gibson exec if I could order a model that I didn’t buy when they did a recent run, pre pandemic. I was politely told that that model takes a lot of time, and the factory can’t make enough stock as it is to satisfy demand out there. and please tell me what strings are velvetish, as I may want to try them on an Eastman dread I have.
  2. the bracing and top make a difference too. An Adirondack top with advanced (forward shifted) bracing has a different tone than straight braced Sitka. I love both tones. so… neck? 50s is chunky. I have that neck on my LG-2 Reissue. If you like a Martin D18GE kind of neck, you will like the 50s. The Standard is more like the Martin MLO necks on the Standard D18. throw out any generalizations of fixed bridge versus adjustable bridge. you liked the 60’s? Done, go get it.
  3. I own a D15, and have owned 000 and 00 15s as well (I like the 00 better). The 15 series is great. But if you have that feeling now, take it back, because you won’t magically be happy with it later on. A good complement to a Bird might be a 000-28, instead. What’s $3,000 among friends, right? If you just want a gigger, get an Eastman E2OM for about $550 and throw in a Baggs M1. Or get a Taylor 110. I am glad you love your Bird. They are special guitars.
  4. I am pretty sure no cooked tops in 2013. Gibson probably shipped with Masterbilt 80/20 lights.
  5. Congrats Dave. An object d’ art…
  6. I can’t tell by the picture. I used to think wider grain means Adirondack, but that’s not necessarily true. I have a Taylor AD17 whose spruce looks identical, and that is Sitka. I used to own a Southern Jumbo True Vintage a decade ago, where the specs said red spruce, but it was confirmed Sitka. Enjoy it though!
  7. Congrats! but what is a French heel?
  8. Gravity then Died Young is my vote Ann. I agree with Murph on Tribe. I agree with Murph on your talent and skills… I don’t know what that bar is? But I know if it’s a good place you belong there.
  9. Oh. Jeeez. of course. I know them well. Senior moment...
  10. Well. Checking in from a little R&R. 8:13 am after going to bed at 3:00 after playing a house party in Naples. I have no right to want to check in on any music anything, and this creation slaps me in the face. I don’t know who Dave and Gilliam is, but I can proudly say I know Ben. This is A plus primo on every level. It shows the ten thousand hours. Be proud.
  11. Congrats to your daughter… For a gigger, she might like one of the Birds that have thinner bodies. Old school old duded want the originals, but I find the younger ones are more practical. She may prefer a more comfortable depth, like a Studio Walnut, over the perfect syrupy un plugged traditional Bird.
  12. Best case I have owned. They are light and really protective. hard to get in the US. I sold it with the below guitar a few years ago, and I wish I kept that case. The one I had fit dreads and slopes.
  13. I answered on the AGF. I have the 50s reissue, dry guitar. Good recording guitar. No overtones. Great to sing with. Comfy.
  14. I didn’t think they made the SCCW until 2002? Anyways, I wish I still had one. Nice guitars.
  15. My J45-TV is from the same time period. I usually use Elixir PB lights, but heck no matter what strings I have tried, I have never heard “awful”. I am doubtful this is a string issue, When I first bought my guitar, the setup was all off. The setup was completely off, and prior owners thought that cranking the truss rod would fix action issues. It played awful. A complete setup by a trusted shop adjusted the nut, corrected neck angle to be close to straight, a new proper height saddle, a few filed frets, and it’s been my pride since. get a real tech to check it out. Mine was Brothers Music in PA. another thought. What’s the humidity by you?
  16. Hat tip for soul, originality, and beauty
  17. Thanks for the croz link… Yeah yours is more intimate and meditative. RIP
  18. I love the progression.. the touch. After hearing the mellow, sweet first nylon section, I expected to hear a harsh and shrill bone rendition. Instead, I still heard the nature of that old guitar, and slightly more clear. I preferred it.
  19. FB!!!! yeah. Guitar works just fine, and it’s great to see you here. Merry Christmas. Whose gonna make the Gravy … request!
  20. That case is a little much for my Entry level Eastman and Big Muddy? Looks awesome! kicking myself for not buying your ‘13 all hog banner LG2 reissue.
  21. Missed this. Nice job Lars. Enjoyable….i love that you also share the lyrics. I’m a pretty visual person, and when I see the lyrics laid out like that, it helps me appreciate the story.
  22. Well, I wish I bought that CF100 Reissue a few years back, so I wish they would bring that back. and an all hog J45 like 2018 but with silver hardware, not gold.
