  1. I am in a Public Speaking class this semester and we have to do an informative speech. I decided I am going to do it on an overview of a guitar. I am going to bring in my Epi Les Paul Custom and plan on going over the parts that make up the guitar(wood, bridge, pickups, etc..) Does anyone know where I can find some good visual aids about the parts of a guitar? I would love to find one for a Les Paul that shows the parts of it that are all labeled. Thanks in advance!
  2. Thanks all, I am still a beginner so I am still learning the ins and outs of the hardware. I am trying to wrap my head around how the 3 volume controls work with each pickup. I have searched online for some sort of FAQ on how these work with eachother but haven't found an dumbed down version. Anyone know where I can find or explain to a newbie how these work and how each pickup yields different tones? Thanks in advance. You guys are awesome.
  3. I need to polish up the pick up covers, they are pretty dingy looking. I love the color too!
  4. Awesome! Thanks for the kind welcoming. Here is my baby:
  5. I am sort of a new guitar player that has been trying to find the "right" guitar for my style. I had an Epiphone Dot that I got on the cheap that I really liked. It just didn't scratch that distorted overdrive sound that I wanted. So I hit craigslist to see if I could find a trade and ended up with an Epiphone SG 400 Custom. Gotta say I am loving it so far. Any other SG-400 custom owners have any advise?
  6. Thanks guys. It sounds like it is boiling down to trying it and seeing if I am able to put up with it. Not concerned with resell value, plan on keeping it and passing it down to one of my kids. I will post some pics to see what you all think(I have 30 days to return it).
  7. Thanks for all the input guys. I am super excited about getting a dot(love the sound for the price). I am just preparing myself not to be heartbroken. I had it shipped to the store so if its non playable I can take care of it right then and there. My other question: If I buy their warranty, will they fix the neck?
  8. They do have a 30 day return policy. I wasn’t sure if having a small crack in the neck is something I should immediately walk away from or if it’s something that could be ok to live with.
  9. I need everyone’s thoughts on a used Epiphone Dot I ordered from Guitar Center. They had a Cherry Epiphone Dot with a hardshell case for $200. At that price, I knew there had to be something wrong with it. I called the store that had it and they said it had a small crack on the head that had been repaired and it was purely cosmetic. I went to my local guitar center and ordered it. About an hour later the manager from the store I ordered it from called me and told me that the head had a crack that went down to the neck a little. He said it was cosmetic and totally playable. I am starting to think I may had a bad choice. Is it worth it for 200? It does have a case. Does Guitar Center sell guitars that are pretty damaged or do you think its not a big deal for the price I got it for? I am not concerned about resell value b/c I plan on keeping it.
