  1. THis is easy!!!! Jimmy Page and then of course Angus!
  2. Any of the SG line other than the P90s would kill it, but they make a reasonably priced SG Special "Dirty Fingers" with the DF pups that sounds really killer for that type of play! But all SGs will get raunchy when asked!
  3. Your conclusion is similar to what i have found. I think mostly the "mojo" those guys speak of is like the guys that buy new corvettes and only drive them twice a yr! Those guitars have all top end tops etc that look phenominal but as far as playing goes....???? Im sure others have and will echo the fact that you can sit down with a nice $1500 range LP and it will sound as good or better then a $3500-$5000 TOP END VOS or what ever. Guitars are all "one offs" to me and some sound great and others not so much regardless of price. What grinds me is some of the KILLER TOPS on the Epiphone stuff that costs $500 or so compared to Studios, Classics etc that dont come close for three to four times the money! I realize they are overseas made but wood is wood and if they can use that killer top on an import and charge $500 then we should get some better looking tops on the Gibson USA brands in the $1000-$1900 range! Some of the stuff i see price at GC priced at $1999 on sale are plain jane at best! Anyway, i think a lot of the "mojo" in the R8s etc is like the mojo in the $60k Corvettes etc!

    Which LP?

Fully individual likes and dislikes! I have sat in GCs Platinum room and played the $1500 versions versus the $3500 and it boils down to estethics at some point. I always sit down and play a few in my price range that im looking to spend and grab the one that grabs me. Good luck! Getting a new LP is always cool!
  5. Problem isnt needin schematic, its needing original gear!
  6. THE EARLY CLASSICS WERE VERY SWEET INDEED! I HAD A CLASSIC MADE IN 95 OR 96 CANT REMEMBER WHICH NOW, BUT IT ACTUALLY SAID MADE IN CUSTOM SHOP ON BACK OF LOWER HEADSTOCK AND IT DIDNT HAVE THE 1960 REISSUE PICKGUARD EITHER.

    LP or SG?

BOTH THE SG AND LP AS THEY BOTH ROCK AND ARE TOTALLY DIFFERNT RIGS!
  8. Thanks in advance for anybody that can help me with a serial off of an SG Faded # 031070600 MADE IN USA I can date anything other than these and the customs but i cant find the sequence anywhere!!
  9. Ted Mccarty was a good friend of my 91 yr old grandfathers! My gpa is still kickin around at 91 and im thankful for him as he taught me a bunch about a whole lot, now if i could just remember half the chit he tought me???!!! LOL! I guess their friendship was based on creation as they both like to "tinker". Ill see if i can get him to throw me some interesting facts about ol Teddy.
  10. the 2005 Angus!!!!! Or the 2008 i guess??? LOL!
  11. i picked up a very very similar SG for $725 cup of the pups being modded. NIce guitar and sounds better then new but its not worth what an unmolested one is for sure. Good luck and have fun with the new SG if you pick it up that is!!

    SG Serial

    Simple enough!
  13. Well i think one reason that you are not finding a ton of small shop Gibson dealers is because they require a shop to buy $250,000 a yr in guitars and product AND....THEY (the factory)DECIDES WHAT INVENTORY YOU WILL RECEIVE! Might as well just buy your SG Burst and enjoy it cuz although we like things to be optimum in our lives, some times you just got to get on to having fun regardless of how you get there to do it!!!! Within reason i mean. LOL!
  14. so what the deal with the sg special faded serial numbers? I see his is old standard type but i noticed on the SG special fadeds dont date the same way???
