  1. Thanks Fang..... It was far from easy for me especially this being my first attempt at a burst, especially emulating a burst (like below) that was far from a traditional type burst. I must have modified my templates three times.
  2. Mr. Sgt. Pepper I do know it's you (our IP Address Tool) and typically you are not supposed create an alternate account. Your spanking was only to last 30 days but I believe there was decision beyond my pay grade that changed the situation to a more "permanent" one. So for now I'm going to let this account stay active, with the condition if I receive one complaint from any member about you this account will be toast...... For what it's worth welcome back.
  3. Fretboard work is so tedious, well it was for me when I was removing the fretboard dots, enlarging the fret dot bore for larger MOP dots. I used a thin glue with a wick from StewMac and it worked good, but some glue still migrated on the fretboard, so I has some cleanup work. I used a drill press, but I only had circular dots to deal with. I couldn't imagine me dealing with rectangular shapes that require a router.
  4. We were hoping to get some Taylor Swift tickets, but $900 for the cheap seats just seems a bit outrageous.
  5. We decided to move away from floor monitors a few weeks ago because they just take up too much space I purchased three of the xvive U4 and three T9 ear buds. Each setup was a total of $400. I have to say these little devices work outstanding with little to no latency. This is my first time using IEM's and for some odd reason I have zero to very little vocal chord fatigue. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/U4Set--xvive-audio-u4-wireless-in-ear-monitoring-system https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/T9--xvive-t9-in-ear-monitors
  6. lol... That's fine, but when you make an agreement you stick with it. For crying out loud I was paying the guy $150 a month just to rehearse four times a month two hours each rehearsal, and $150 per show.
  7. We made it perfectly clear to him we were not going to be one of those bands that people would need to wear ear plugs, and for those that don't sit within proximity of the band could talk amongst themselves...... This includes outdoor shows. I paid $1800 for a Roland Electronic Kit and $600 for the Roland Monitor so he wouldn't have to buy one. Now on the eve of our first show he's crying like a little baby (a 50 year old man). ....... So I told him to get lost..... He called to apologize, but I told him we already moved on. So..... My wife son that plays drums and he is only 25 came in last night and played like a champ. ..... And he even made programs on the kit to compliment different songs and has no issue playing to a click track...... And I don't have to pay him..... Well just beer.
  8. It always take longer than expected..... If you commissioned a luthier to do what you're doing it would be at least 6 months. I think you're making good progress
  9. Cool jam.... Nuno is one hell of a player
  10. It's funny I really like the Beatles, but when the GET BACK documentary dropped I suddenly was obsessed with the instruments they were playing, and I wanted them.... Certainly I wasn't going to pay $6,000 for a Rocky Strat and $4000 for an all rosewood tele , $5000 for a Gibson Lucy Les Pauls and $4000 for a Gibson 64 Custom Shop SG reissue. So I found a way to get all of them for about $3000.....
  11. Nice score Never really noticed the neck dive on an SG but most of mine have the long Maestro Vibrola on them which adds extra weight to the body and some tuning instability.
  12. I like that.... to me it makes the whole shape of the body pop IMO.
  13. Wow that's really cool how you're doing that 😳
  14. Well it's pretty much done.... my damn orbital buffer died after the first polishing step (medium cut). I had to do the other two steps by hand which is nearly impossible which is why I ordered another from Amazon. I might redo polishing steps 2 & 3, but I'm happy. It started out as a righty $250 CT Hofner. And now it's a lefty. The whole project cost me $870. Made a control panel patch Removed the neck binding Removed the fretboard dots replaced with MOP dots. All German hardware. All nitro lacquer except the front of the headstock. Custom pickup surround.
  15. that seems a bit off. Maybe some just like the way it's looks. Why does it have to be some sort of presumed character flaw because someone may like something that differs from your own perspective.
  16. I think the lighter one looks closer..... That's pretty cool you have someone that can mix a paint for you and stuff it in a aerosol can.
  17. You're not using aerosol so my advice isn't viable
  18. Rabs I found that to be the complete opposite but I use the StewMac stuff. I tried some nitro stuff from Canada and it was pretty terrible.
  19. One more thing After each coat remove the nozzle and drown it in naphtha after each coat
  20. Rabs What I found during some of my projects (with nitrocellulose lacquer)is paint a couple of coats of clear over the sanding sealer. Also wait two hours between coats. The clear coat keeps the wood grain from effecting the color of the base coat. Another tip is warm up the cans for 30 minutes in 70-90 degrees of water. Also paint between 68-90 degrees F and 25-40% RH
  21. I'm pretty open to relicing.... I have seen some pretty convincing relicing jobs that I wouldn't be able tell apart from a guitar that went through years of aging. I have also notice this trend with furniture, but I think they call it "distressed." But I just don't like the additional price tag that's added to an instrument that has been relic'd. I can see a few hundred dollars more for the option, but thousands of dollars is just ridiculous IMO.
  22. My wife loves American Idol and I'll sometimes sit with her and watch.... I'll have to admit this performance caught me off guard when this 18 year old kid dedicated a song to his recently passed dad.
