  1. I think a lot of these tragic instances you all are describing are always up to interpretation, especially when the narrative is to someone's advantage.  It is a shame that someone's poor choices lead to such tragic outcomes, but what is even worse is when people start spouting off about racial, economic, social, political, religious, and environmental justice because it fits their narrative.

  2. Thinking about a Les Paul Special Double Cut from the Custom Shop.  Anybody have any knowledge about such things?

I would appreciate it.  Sonically speaking, I haven't had a chance to plug one in but there's two I can get my hands on to try out.

The 2018 is 7.1 pounds, while the 2011 is 6.6 pounds

  3. I don't know about the notifications because I get the ones at the top of the page indicating how many people responded to something I wrote, but I can no longer log in using my Safari browser.

I know it's an older version and hasn't been updated, but not being able to log in has presented some frustration.

I now have to use Google Chrome.

  4. Those are from 2018-19.

They're technically both nearly identical.  Custom Bucker Pickups and it does appear one has a more figured top.

Seen a few on the interwebs and I like the color.

Check out this video from Gear4music for the 58 cherry burst.

Can you imagine the angst if Zuckerberg shut down Farcebook ?   It would be like "The Day The Earth Stood Still".

You mean people jumpin' outa' windows and looting and total anarchy?

Oh, wait... that's New York, Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit, San Francisco and Los Angeles on any given day.

    So what's the big differences.

    Please don't say, "One Year."

But really, what is the big difference when buying an R8 vs. R9.

  7. Regarding the use of foul language by black entertainers.

Red Fox: Dirtiest mouth in comedy during the '60s and early 70s.

Richard Pryor: Filthiest mouth in comedy during the mid 70s and 80s.

Eddie Murray: Nastiest comedian during the late 80s and 90s.

They all had several things in common.

They were black comedians with a vulgar act.  And we sat back and laughed our aszs off.

  8. With rights come responsibilities.

Language that may be appropriate in a back-alley with your gang-banging boys from the hood is not appropriate in a school setting, a church (not that those who have a propensity for cussing and swearing will ever end up there, except of course maybe their corps) or at work.

I try to tell this to the at-risk students I work with daily.  Some get it.  Others, well stupid is as stupid does.

  9. I believe that free speech is a right.  So I believe in your right to exercise that right and say what you believe must be said.  I will also defend your right to free speech.  Unfortunately we are living in a time where everything we say is being weighed, scrutinized and judged by a "woke" mentality.  In that I mean everything falls into the realm of social justice and therefor everything is suspect. It not only creates an environment of intolerance but a total lack of reasonable discourse to argue a point.  There is no more discussion that can be reasonably presented because of the intolerant mindset which inevitably leads to a call of censorship and cancelation.  In many of the woke's minds, it's easier to call for silence from opposing ideas, thoughts and reasoning.  Calling for cancelation and silence of those who disagree with you is just wrong. Discourse and tolerance fall by the wayside as woke, social justice advocates scream, yell and shout down dissenting ideas under the umbrella of popularism, progressivism, wokeism, socialism, and authoritarianism.  Free speech is ultimately silenced.

I believe that many people learned that absolute power corrupts, absolutely.

I didn't particularly need this lesson, for I learned it many years ago.

And that the mainstream media is absolutely corrupt and can not be trusted as a source of truth and objectivity.

Oh and one more thing.  A grave, mass psychosis has taken control of a large section of humanity.  Many live in fear and are incapable of embracing freedom and liberty because they only believe in and answer to their totalitarian, autocratic, rulers.

  11. I was diagnosed with cancer three years ago.  Lost my mother unexpectedly in March 2000, just one month after we threw her an 80th birthday party.

So never live in fear.  Walk in faith and a quiet confidence and assuredness.

Be bold and recognize that all of us face trials and tribulations regularly.  Work hard to bridge the distance between family and friends.

So encourage and lift up your fellow man/woman.  Make them aware that every day is a gift and you should be thankful for them in your life.

Because I tell you this, on the days when my gratitude out weighs or is greater than my expectations, then I'm having pretty good days.

I'm now cancer free for three years.

Thanks Jim for the post.  You my friend are near and dear to my heart.

I'm thankful for you for your wisdom, your friendship, and always your insights and razor sharp mind for history.

  12. So my point in posting the Black Crowes video is that for three basic chords (G, C, D) a band can get into a killer jam.  The interplay between Luther Dickinson and Rich Robinson is a great example of two guitarists getting to do their own solos.  For an added bonus, Dickinson plays slide in his second solo leading to the outro. I can appreciate that.  Three guitar solos in one song, that's a good piece of music.

As far as other slide players, Johnny Winter was a master of slide.  I've been fortunate to see him twice (some 20 years apart) in my life.  Yeah, a lot of folks play slide guitar, but Johnny was a master.  Like his ability to play blazing, rapid fire triplets, Winter knew the value and usefulness of slide when playing.
