I think the official explanation is that those guitars had defective parts. Anyway, best of luck!

I'm hoping the affordable price was $0! There was a video and news story just a few weeks ago about Gibson just junking their inventory of these Guitars. https://www.metalsucks.net/2019/08/01/watch-a-few-hundred-gibson-firebird-x-guitars-get-run-over-by-a-bulldozer/ Judging from that, I'm not sure if Gibson still supports the guitar, may want to reach out to their customer service directly.

I'm a little late to the party, but My Bloody Valentine's shoegazey whammy style is fun to play.

Awesome.

I hate the toggle switch location on the Les Paul from a player perspective, but from a purely cosmetic standpoint, it looks really dumb next to the knobs.

I hear there's a nice local Brewery in Bristol. Tennessee or Kentucky is where I will end up retiring too as well. Truly God's country down there.

How many Guitars you up to GG? Do you have a family pic?
-
Very nice!

'79 studio? I thought they started production of those in the early 80's, like 83-84. It looks like its 5 years old, so it sure has been kept in good shape!

I looked at each guitar and I'm like 'I don't see any Hamers!' :) I like the Laney best out of the three, but I've just never been much of a Vox or Marshall guy.
-
Agree, try each guitar out. The 496 buckers are ceramic and hotter than the PAF type pickups as well and as a result those pickups, like P90s, aren't for everyone.
-
*(-.50) cents. While I agree it is a nice gesture, I've never heard of anyone collecting shipping boxes, but I wish you luck trying to find the owner of the guitar.
-
I agree. I'd say all the McCartney songs on Abbey Road are really bad IMO, especially that medley at the end. Even when I was 10 I thought that was lame and contrived 'granny music.' YMMV of course.

Love my Alpine LP Studio. 14 years and I can really notice the fading, though it is still quite white. I'm pretty sure in my Avi Pic, the guitar was like under a year old at that point.

If you're looking for a replacement for your lost guitar, buying a heavily modified Deluxe doesn't seem to be the answer...now if you like the guitar, that's fine, but I'd recommend looking for a more in tact example.

The give a suggestion that someone has unsuccessfully tried after someone posts about their solution guy.

Reverb thinks you could get a little north of $200 for it. https://reverb.com/price-guide/guide/3723-epiphone-s-400-1980s-white

Half of Abbey road is really bad imho. Revolver>Sgt. Pepper>Magical Mystery Tour>White Album>Abbey Road

Muddy low sound with Epiphone Les Paul Standard
deeman replied to Santanu's topic in Epiphone Electrics
True, but if you would have read just the 2nd and 3rd posts of this 8 year old thread you resurrected, you would see the point you were making to resurrect an 8 year old thread was already discussed. I'm not sure why I'm so triggered about this, but I am. -
Okay, yeah my office building has something like that. The CTA 'L' here in Chicago still uses the ol' turnstile for entry, much safer for a guitar case than those doors closing on you!

First, this thread is 8 years old, second, if you read all the post you'd see it wasn't the batteries, he said 8 years ago he tried that and he was able to identify 8 years ago it was the input jack that was the issue. Second, There's some cool pictures in this dude's Flickr. -
Used? Maybe $5?

If you aren't in a hurry, I would just recommend to just keep reviewing listings on like ebay/reverb/craigslist as well as visiting local shops until you find something. Actually playing the guitar would be a plus, if you find one that feels right, get it.

Was this like a subway station? What kind of gates are you talking about. All I can really picture are turn-style type entrances.
