Cool Bird, Lemmo is a great player but I have to say I miss Agnesi's demos. I agree with duluthdan about the open tuning thing a bit like demoing guitars with a capo I've never understood that either.

Just got this in my email:
-
Wishing you the best Sal.

I'll have a go. The original doesn't have headstock wings?

Great sounding CW, nice playing also.

That's a beautiful Dove congrats👍

A new J-45 is a stretch financially for a lot of people. I think the G-45 is a great guitar for a young person, or someone on a budget. Even a gigging musician as a main guitar or back up. There's plenty of competition out there in the sub $1500 range and I think it's great Gibson is producing an all USA built guitar below that price point. If it helps keep Gibson in business for years to come I'm all for it.

Here's the premier guitar review:
-
The Everly brothers guitar had 2 huge pickguards, a pinless bridge, and a shallower body depth than a J185.
-
I'm jealous I'd love to get my hands on one of those 50's 185's.
-
Yes it really is Jinder. I have to admit I hadn't heard of Hawley before stumbling across this video. I'll definitely be checking out more of his stuff though.
-
Found this short video on YouTube of British singer-songwriter Richard Hawley's 1953 J-185. I love the sound of this guitar.

Hummingbird and 000-28 for me. Mahogany Gibson dred and a rosewood Martin OM.

That kids a great player, better than Agnesi I think. Guitar sounds fantastic.
-
Very nice BluesKing. Taylor did a nice job with these Grand Pacifics.
-
Gibson had that Cascade series for a short time. They had cedar tops. https://massstreetmusic.com/products/gibson-lc1-cascade-2003

It'll make your guitar sound like a Taylor.....

You could measure the nut width. Sometime in 1965 Gibson switched to a narrow nut width from 1 11/16 to 1 9/16(1 5/8). I'm no expert but I do think that looks like a replacement bridge.

Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Pete Townsend, Bob Dylan, James Taylor back in the day.

I've seen this on a Gibson I owned, ironically it was a Koa J-45 and I just put it down to sloppy workmanship. If your not happy can you return it to the dealer? I don't know if there is anyway to clean off the glue.

Sweet, what a gorgeous burst. Are you sure that's a used guitar looks pretty minty to me.

My 1963 Bird and I would also like to become members of this exclusive club

Is it really an issue? That remains to be seen. Though I agree I have learned some interesting things about wood and guitar building in general from this discussion.

There is nothing wrong with the J-15. I could've afforded a more expensive Gibson had I wanted too, I just didn't see the need. I can see the point Hogeye is making and that's fair enough he's entitled to his opinion. I guess time will tell if any of those scenarios come to fruition but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. I suspect if any issues do arise it would have more to do with owners neglecting to maintain their guitars properly rather than Gibsons materials and building techniques.

Mr Hogeye, even you have to admit this is some pretty attractive firewood
