  1. I can't thank you enough for your help! I will be sure to ask the seller about the tuners and if all is good I will definitely mark this transaction as a landmark guitar to add to my collection! Thanks very much, Jamie.
  2. I've just re-checked the ad, and the exact model name given was Les Paul Custom Plus. If that might help explain it's likeness to the 76' custom.
  3. It was advertised on preloved.co.uk by a man who lives quite locally. Pre loved is quite a popular classifieds site and there were many different guitars posted on there which can only make me assume it's quite a good place for buying and selling premium goods. When I requested further pictures of the guitar (which I posted above) he showed no hesitation about emailing me them and if anything, he said he was willing to do the deal he just needed more background on the SG, which I provided and am currently waiting for his reply. Jamie.
  4. Thanks very much flight for the quick response, call it sods law but I was in doubt about the guitar, as earlier before I saw the ad for the les paul I actually went to trade my SG for a PRS McCarty but I couldn't get the deal I wanted, so when i saw this ad, my inner guitar addict jumped at the chance of owning a LP Custom!
  5. Hi all, I'm currently talking to a guy who wants to trade my SG 61 Reissue for his 1994 Les Paul custom and was hoping if you guys would take a look at the pictures below and tell me whether it's the real deal or a deal thats too good to be true because I've looked at the pictures myself but I'm not to attuned to spotting a fake guitar in a matter of seconds. Any help you guys can provide me will be greatly appreciated. The serial no. btw is 94014777. I checked this and the date seems to match up but its the headstock that has me mainly concerned. 7. Yo, I've got a 61 RI with 57 classics and at the moment I'm playing it through a Vox Valvetronix and getting an awesome clean, almost jangly tone with some nice bite. I can safely say i've never attempted to change pickup height etc, but i did have some dullness in the sound. I eventually figured it was the amp so I did some tweaking and now its fine. There shouldn't be anything wrong but you could try heightening the pickups. Just mess about and see how you like it- it's all about personal preference.
  8. I don't really care what they do to their guitars providing the quality, tonality and overall workmanship doesn't slip otherwise it would seem Gibson are doing all this just to cut a few corners or keep costs down which doesn't sit right by me. If I wanted a poorly constructed, low quality guitar I would pay for one; When I buy another Gibson I pay for good quality or else I might as well just buy a PRS (which I might do, I'm getting bored of Gibsons now...)
  9. Who gives a crap what guitar they used! I'm sure if Hitler played a Les Paul you would still want one regardless of who plays it so quit whining about what some overrated Disney Band plays and ***** about something worthwhile.
  10. SHWEET SG but, now that i've got a 61 RI, I am jonesing for a LP Goldtop when I get the cash...
  11. I kinda think that the Jonas Brothers poster behind him means he is gay by default...
  12. I mite just order 1 of those long arm maestros for my SG to freshen it up a bit, plus i prefer it over a bigsby for classic looks!
  13. Now this is a toughie.... Singer: Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) Lead Guitarist: Jimmy Page (Led Zep) Rhythm Guitarist: Mark Tremonti (Alter Bridge) Bassist: ? Drums: Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) This is what immediately springs to mind but I could probably come up with something better if I had plenty of time!
  14. American Pie- Don Maclean (I know, obvious!)
