  1. I have a Gibson ES Les Paul short scale bass with flat wound strings. I don't play it a lot but when I love to play it when the occasion arises.
  2. Sweetwater is the best. Knowledgeable staff and good prices.
  3. I thought seriously about buying one but the price was just too hefty for a guitar that I did not immediately fall in love with.
  4. I got one too and I'm a female! Guess she's not particular.
  5. He was one of my favorite actors in his day. And he was easy on the eyes for me. Frances
  6. I'm not into the raunchy songs. When the Beatles did "Why Don't We Do It In The Road," they were young and I could kinda shrug and think "whatever." Something kinda creepy about an old guy, even one as talented at Paul, being raunchy. But I'm 64 and female, so I'm sure that weighs in as well. Still love Paul, just not a big fan of the newer stuff.
  7. I was lucky enough to get in on the Sirius lifetime plan when they offered it years ago. I paid a little less than $500 but got a lifetime sub (I can change radios up to three times to keep the lifetime). So far, I've only had to purchase a new dock n' play. This has already paid for itself several times. Love it.
  8. The arctic blast has reached South Carolina. Highs this week in the upper 30's, lows in the upper teens. We're due for winter weather today (01/03); hope it doesn't last too long. I'm over this winter already as well.
  9. I saw three really good concerts - Foreigner, Neil Diamond and Chicago. Couldn't pick which one was the best. I have tickets to see Bob Seger when he resumes his tour in 2018 from his surgery. Also, I plan to see the Eagles in April, 2018. I've seen them four times and I'm curious to see how it will be without Glenn Frye.
  10. I look forward to my afternoon naps on the weekends. Not sure if that will carry through into retirement in three years. Guess it will depend on how active I am and what my daily schedule is.
  11. I'm not sure I like the look. Wonder how it sounds?
  12. I have the 2013 model. I don't play my Les Paul a lot but I love it. Mine has the Koa top in Iced Tea.
  13. Both Guitar Center and Sweetwater have financing plans from Synchrony Bank. I've bought from both dealers that way and it's a great way to get zero percent financing. You just have to make sure the amount is paid in full before the promotional period expires.
  14. I saw Foreigner with Cheap Trick and Bonham in Charlotte on August 5th. Mick Jones wasn't with them that night. All around great show. I saw Foreigner with Def Leppard here in Columbia a few years ago and it was a fabulous concert.
  15. Hello Again by Neil Diamond. Lots of great jazz chords that challenge me.
  16. I'm also a big fan of Sweetwater and my sales "engineer," Chris McCown. I've bought most of my guitars from them. Living in South Carolina, I have never been able to make the trip to their business but maybe when I retire.......
  17. Cool pic. I go on the Kiss Kruises every year. KK7 coming up in November. I did the bass class with Gene two years ago on the Kruise and it was so much fun. Gene definitely is the most outgoing of the group. He loves what he does.
  18. I have a Gibson ES-Les Paul short scale bass with flat wound strings. I don't play it much but when I do, I love this guitar.
  19. My Doves in Flight (DIF) is natural w/cherry stained maple back and sides. Beautiful guitar.
  20. I purchased the lifetime subscription before the two satellite stations merged. I still love having it at the house and in the vehicle. I can always change the station....mostly I listen to 60's, 70's, 80's and Elvis. But I do like the new Beatles channel. I just keep changing channels.....better variety than what's on regular FM.
  21. Hey guys: I'm still casually looking at vintage Gibsons and have run across some really great looking L-5's from the late twenties to mid-thirties. Can any expert chime in here about the collectacbility of these guitars versus other Gibson models and what reasonable price range I should be considering? Thanks Frances
