  1. Some absolutely gorgeous things on this thread! msp_drool.gifmsp_love.gif

There are some lovely guitars posted here, how much smaller is a 336 compared to the 335?

Same dimensions as a 339, if you've seen one of those. The difference is the construction method.

  2. I've had this on my 2013 Traditional Pro II, which came with the pick guard installed at the factory.

There is no checking around the dent, it's like a small impression from the nut. I decided to keep the guard on, seeing as the holes were already drilled.

To prevent further impressions being made, and to protect the area that had already been marked; I cut the end of a rubber pencil eraser off and wedged it between the nut and the body, so even if something pressed the guard down towards the body the nut won't make contact with the finish.

  3. +1 to badbluesplayer; I had the same issue with my '13, where the bridge volume just wouldn't catch so was constantly engaged / up / out.

I bought a replacement and had it fitted and it was fine.

I believe that the Traditional Pro II was designed so that it should be wired to fully split the coils and read from only one coil, not like the wiring in a Standard, which I believe 'taps' the coil, meaning you get about 1.5 coils worth.

Someone please correct me if I'm off the mark.

  4. OK; I've got a follow-up question (and I do apologise if I've managed to gloss over it completely where it's mentioned in this post).

If you've got an Epi with vintage / Kluson / Gibson deluxe tuners, basically ones that look like this:

    kluson_noshaft_1_wm.jpg

When they are of this particular styling; are the measurements the same brand to brand?

So if I have an Epi with this style and I want to put the Gotoh equivalent; will there be any alignment issues? Noob question, I know.

  5. Well, it's pretty clear you get what you pay for. The difference in the two SJ's is pretty stunning, but I don't know how much of that difference might be contributed to the cutaway.

The Epi 'bird is very harsh tonally to my ear--no balance, mediocre separation. Very "stringy" and thin-sounding, as opposed to "woody" and full.

If they two Epi's weren't being played side-by-side with the Gibby's, the differences might or might not be quite so apparent.

I've was very much of the same thoughts on the 'bird; too bright and not a lot of resonance coming across; such a stark difference to the full Gibson, which sounded wonderful. The two J's sounded quite on par to my ears.

  6. "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" - The Shirelles

Written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King and was banned by many radio stations because the song merely implied that the person the girl was singing about was telling her that he loved her in order to have sex with her. It was the age of innocence.

    "Maybe Tomorrow" - Steroephonics.
