  1. 13022306010-X Hello, I finally got my serial number. Midtowner, if I say pretty please, will you tell me where it was made? :)
  2. I think Sorrentos are a well kept secret. SC confirmed that they had had issues with the labelling. What we need now is a non SN numbered guitar's SN. I suspect they may have been made elsewhere.I hope I get mine if only to clear up the mystery! In fact, I' ll write a follow up email now....
  3. No, not yet. After the new year, I'll remind everyone. I could also go to the shop. I need some new strings anyway.
  4. They haven't told me, they are checking first with the shop, I sent them proof of purchase. But as the shop only had one, it shouldn't be difficult. Athough because of the Xmas rush, I imagine they may take a while to answer.
  5. Ok, I have news, CS have found what should be my SN and are double checking with Guitar Legend, the shop. It's in Pigalle, just off the "Guitar" street, with all the expensive vintage jobs, check it out if you come to Paris. I recomend Cedric by the way, he's the boss. He's really good at guessing what would would suit you. When I went in it was because I thought I wanted a Miss Mexico Cabronita Telecaster, and he had them. Anyway I explained what I wanted, a new guitar easier to play than my really nice classical guitar (Maya), but not a folk...he handed me the Cabronita and I played around on it while I waited my turn to hook up. I hated it, I just couldn't imagine myself playing it, too heavy, and despite being an 80s gal, I don' t think I'm a rock chick...so my turn came and I just handed it back. So he thought a while and then handed me the Sorrento, which had just come in with the other special 1962ers. I was off. 5 minutes later he asked me how I liked it and I didn't even hear him....
  6. I love it, my guy is Mexican and he can't play it, I can on the keyboards :) It's really hard to sing though. :€
  7. I'm guessing you aren' t Hispanic :) me neither by the way, but my guy is :) Shonita is what he calls me when I sing Besame Mucho :) Apparently I have a charming English accent when I sing in Spanish :)
  8. Ah no cardboard box, it has the hard case, there was something written on some sellotape, but it rubbed off very quickly, so I took it off. Anyway I took one of the pickups off, but no luck, I can't loosen the strings because of the floating bridge, I already took it back once because the bridge fell over when I took the piece of plastic off.
  9. Ah, thank you, well I'll see what they find, and if not, I'll get my partner to do it, he's a proper guitarist and he knows what he's doing. :)
  10. Ah, interesting :) but I'm not taking mine apart to find out :)
  11. Exactly, which is why I can't see them make such a rookie mistake as forgetting the SN, plus there's no problem with piracy and Indonesia as far as I know.
  12. Well hopefully they'll be able to find my SN when I send the pics tomorrow, I don't have a full one of the back and it's dark here, I'd rather take the pics in daylight. I think you're probably right about them being made in Indonesia, but the absence of SN would seem consitent with them testing a high range run in a new factory to see how it went.
  13. I got the distinct impression from the email from CS that the Sorrentos were made in different countries, the thing about pirating usually means China in Business speak, also with the problems they seem to have had, would seem to suggest an immature QC set up, and I get the feeling that Indonesia is quite expert at this. Also, now I think about it, the Sorrento was packed like things from China with little crystal bags against humidity. Also this would make sense, I think it would be much easy to ship Indonesian made things to the US.
  14. Is this guy for real? it's like talking to a hormonal teenager. I don't know what you mean by "Woodwind", you mean Woodbrass? They didn't have Sorrentos either, plus it's not a very good shop. I was told the mic I wanted to buy was crap and I had to beg them to order it. In the end, I went somewhere else, Musikia, who are great and very helpful.
  15. That's great, but that photo wasn't at the end of the links you posted(Of course we can't tell now because you took them off). I'm sorry but when you say all Sorrentos have SN s and have made in Indondesia labels, and seem to have no idea that they are numbered and when I'm playing one that doesn't and is numbered, it tends to make me think you may not know as much as you think you do. The male adolescent smileys don't help either. Strike that, on second thoughts I was taking you seriously until I realised you had edited all your posts into silly smileys. It was then I started wondering how old you were. Anyway, if you're interested, I have had info from customer service, see up thread.
  16. !Gracias…! If it is a fake, they should hire the factory... because it's stunning, both in looks and sound, so I'm not worried about the guitar, I never thought I would own such a beautiful guitar, cos I thought you had to go the whole hog Gibson to have one, and my playing isn't worth a Gibson :), but I would be upset about the x of 1962 thing, cos I think that's cool :) Also, I might be seeing things from a dark angle, because I'm ill, and Los Gatos is too, I had to take him to the vet today, and Los Gatos without the drummer isn't fun to think about :(, but the vet was encouraging, and he seems better. Felix is on the pic on the other Sorrento thread.
  17. I just got in touch with them, and they were as always really helpful. I'm hoping there isn' t a problem with my guitar :( especially as I didn't get Dylan's Discount :(
  18. There aren't lots here, only one shop had them in Paris when I bought mine, and they had only one. The big internet dealer in the UK also had very few. Fascinating, in a world where we expect even guitars to be normalized, they aren't.
  19. :) I asked customer service, and they said that the Sorrentos should have both, but some got out without the serial number by mistake. They also said that they couldn't disclose the factories anymore because of pirating. If it says on the headstock "made in...." that's ok, if not... I take that to mean mine was made in China :). Unfortunately, I also seem to have a problem with the COA, which is both empty and the wrong one (CS provided some pics :)) So mine might be a fake :P I've asked if they think it's possible, although I bought it from THE Gibson Fender dealer in Paris (I've no idea what it's real name is, everyone just calls it the Fender shop) Do you recall if the SN was on the COA?
  20. Ah, thank you. It seems mine is different. I'm in Europe, are you in the US?
  21. Really, can you show a pic? The pics on the links you showed me didn't show a serial number. I downloaded them and looked at them large, but you couldn't see the serial number. By the way for antone reading this, the conversation doesn't make sense because Midtowner has retroactively edited most of his posts.
  22. Thank you for all the interesting replies. It seems they're all different. Here's my headstock, I don't think it's a second, if it is I'd like to see a first :)
  23. Wow, just wow. I'm sorry, but you seem to be mistaken. 50th anniversary Sorrentos don't have serial numbers. The other Sorrento owner on the board has confirmed this. If I'm frank, I think Sweetwater made up the one on the link you provided. Mine has neither made in Indonesia nor set up in the US on the headstock. If they are all made in Indonesia, why not? I've seen a pic of the blue label for a special Casino and it does have a serial number on it. The label is different to the special 1962 ones. I've posted a pic of the label, maybe you could have a look, as you don't seem to have seen one like it before.
