1. I've owned Manhattan blue and have seen many Chicago blues.Unlike in photos, in person the Chicago blues are much darker, however not every guitar is the same shade for either color. The Manhattan midnight for the most part are much lighter, BUT Some of the darker shaded Manhattan midnights are very similar to the lighter shaded Chicago blues. I feel all Manhattan midnights are beautiful some lighter or darker than others, but each a strong color. The Chicago blues are nice, but if you are ordering online and dont know what shade it is, the darker Chicago blues aren't very attractive. Also the Manhattan midnight has more of a burst to it, whereas Chicago blues have no burst really. It's personal preference, but the Manhattan midnight def stands out more.
2. Musiciansfriend reissued them for 2014. I think it is a musiciansfriends.com exclusive. They have em for 1999 new and one blemished for 1739, http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/gibson-les-paul-classic-custom-2-electric-guitar
3. Your right dude. Baked maple on my 2011 gibson les paul classic i used to have was a much nicer and more harmonically rich compared to my rosewood fretboards on my gibson les paul standards. Of course this i opinionated, however people who say baked maple is terrible are dead wrong, they are just too used to other types, it is def a superior fretboard.
4. Hey these days many metal heads via Ola Englund, Keith Merrow, John Petrucci, etc are def not using Les Pauls for their sound. That doesn't mean a Les Paul can't keep up with these ibanez's, schecters, Music mans and such for metal. Sure the necks aren't as fast but who gives a f***. So tell me which AMPLIFIER, DIST PEDALS, LES PAUL MODEL,and PICKUPS as well as any other mods do you use to get that tight bone crushing sound???? This is My setup, and I like it much better on my Gibsons which are way tighter now, than on my Schecter SLS C-1A with blackouts which is typically the more metal guitar. AMPS 2012 Black Diamond plated Mesa Dual rec multi-watt through a 4x12 oversized mesa cab or 2x12 mesa cab backup is a Peavey 6505+ DIST/Effects Ibanez ts-9 mixed with a boss eq Guitars 2013 Gibson Les Paul standard with a 500T in the bridge 2013 Gibson Les Paul Traditional with a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the Bridge 2005 Gibson Les Paul Studio with a Dirty Fingers in the bridge
5. My mistake most people refer to combos and cabinets as having guitar loudspeakers, woofer is an old school term not often used anymore. Most people say woofer meaning sub woofer these days not knowing there is a difference. I guess in your situation it is different that's all. Because in mine with the same 500t in the bridge of both the traditional is much warmer while the standard much brighter.

7. I. Did some research for you. Forget what I said. I Have found that this odd outline does occur on occasion, some reissue custom shops have this to make it looked aged. It's some kinda odd reaction that occurs. Figured I'd let u know so u don't think in the back of your mind it may be fake. My appoligies.
8. Stock vs stock I agree the traditional has more edge, and bite this may have been due to the pickups. I have a 500t in the bridge of both and the standard is much brighter. Could be cuz my tradtional is a hefty 10 pounds while my standard a lil over 8. Plus I played through a normal tube head I don't think a subwoofer is the correct way to compare guitars.
9. Interesting, I guess either certain years they did this or it's a hit or miss.
10. They did this with my 2011 les paul classic leaving the pick-guard and screws in the case compartment. Hoping this would be so with my 2013 traditional and standard it was not. So for 2011 classics they had the right idea, but I guess they changed that worrying that people would screw up (no pun intended) inserting the holes and call complaining that they should come with the pick-guard installed. So it is understanding from a business perspective.
11. dude id check the serial number with Gibson, It's not just the faded look, there should not be a stenciled in outline around the logo. I'm not saying your selling a fake, but it is very possible you received a fake not knowing.
12. HAHA I feel like Gibson broke record sales this month, I bought two 2013 models on clearance. A standard for 1800 and a traditional for 1499. Should make the guys at Gibson think about how lower retail prices can cause a huge increase in profit.
13. JUST CHECKED Looks like those websites wont be back in stock til feb 9th, so it must just be a popular model color. I have a desert burst standard and it is def on the meaner looking side of other bursts
14. Unfortunately most music stores these days, at least where i am from, downright SUCK at getting new products in stock. I almost feel like they see how well they sell online first before they spend money bringing it into their dealership. But as far as any 2014 gibson, between 4 guitar centers, 1 samash, and about 4 privately owned music stores, there are NONE in stock aside from one 2014 LPJ in ONE guitar center where i am from. It's sad but my theory as i said earlier, is they order small quantities if any and see how they sell first. Plus they are fairly new, come the next few months when the 2013 models are scraped off the shelf they'll be loads of 2014 models. If your friend really wants one, order from zzounds.com or americanmusical.com they have awesome 45 day return policies and allow you to choose from different serial numbers so you get the perfect looking one to your liking. If you are unsure on shipping call em and the will gladly walk you through shipping back a model if you're friend isn't happy with it. I've done this quite a few times.
