Great guitar!(I like CME a lot too. I got a chance to stop in over Thanksgiving.) The thin finish looks nice, and the scratch is just a little honest wear and wouldn't bother me in the least. I have a Fuller's 1939 J35 Reissue from 2011. I'll never sell it. And the neck is fantastic, full C and 1.77". Gibson calls it the Luthier's Choice profile. I tried several sets of strings and settled on the Martin Monel Retros in 12-54. Congratulations, and enjoy!

Tom, thanks for sharing the video! I guess I was being a little cheeky when I said a Loar signed F5, but I do think that is THE Gibson, thanks to Big Mon walking into that barber shop on that day. I know that the old Granadas and RB's are also highly prized and iconic and carry hefty price tags. The 30's AJ's are also very rare and "benchmark". The best rosewood guitar I have ever played was '37 AJ.

I'd order a Roy Smeck Radio Grande: natural top, torrefied red spruce over quarter sawn Brazilian rosewood with a Luthier's Choice neck profile and nickel Waverlies with ivoroid buttons. Thank you, please!

Norman Blake...his tone, timing, touch, and ease getting around the fretboard is a thing of beauty...just the right amount of notes, never too many and never too few. I also like, in no particular order: Charles Sawtelle, David Rawlings, Molly Tuttle, Bob Minner, Billy Strings, Presley Barker, and Jack Lawrence. And Doc Watson and Tony Rice are pretty good too.

The last couple days I have been working on Shenandoah on my Collings D1.

Of all the guitars I have owned, my Collings D1T is my favorite with my J35 Fuller's a close second. I don't really have only one that got away after I got these two.

Including hollownecks and reso's, I have owned 46. I have three right now (Gibson J35 Fuller's, Collings D1T, Blueridge BR240A) and no plans to change that other than possibly getting a Lake Placid Blue Tele with a wide neck.

I had a J15. It was a really good guitar, sounded a lot like the J45 I owned a few years before. I thought I'd replace the small Grovers with closed back Klusons until I got it. The small Grovers worked great. I'd just leave them alone if it was my deal. I'd also go with a smaller, darker sunburst, but that's just my preference.

I saw the Stones in Chicago around 1980. My high school friends and I drove down from Madison. We had no idea where we were going or really how to get there. It was a great night. The Stones are the greatest rock and roll band in history. I have been arguing that point with my students for over 20 years. They, or their parents, most all say the Beatles, but some say Led Zeppelin or The Who. They're wrong, of course.

I had a 2014 J35, and liked it as much you like yours. I wanted/needed a bit more string spacing, and found a J35 Fuller's. I absolutely love it. So much so, that I think about it when I am away from home. The 2014 now lives in Quebec with an equally new happy owner.

slimt: Your definition of "a few" isn't the same as mine! I'd love to see a picture of all your AJ's together. Thanks to everyone who replied. It is much appreciated.

Were the Historic Collection AJ's, from 10-15 years ago, spec'd differently than the "standard" AJ's? I have seen a couple reviews and posts saying that they are 1 3/4" at the nut with a medium to fuller C profile neck. Some say they are a modV profile, while others say they are the same spec's as standard AJ with the HC logo on the back of the peghead being the only real difference. Anyone have any first hand knowledge of this model?

John, thanks for the back story on this video. I met Vince about 15 years ago and found him to be a great guy as well. I like how he is marking a page in your book when you guys are talking about Bob's guitar. And let's not forget to mention Bob's undeniable talent. If I could pick just one song like him... well, that ain't gonna happen, but I'll keep trying. -Keith
