    Es 335 Bass

    That is Sweeeeeeeeeet!
  2. Sorry to hear.. Don't give up. That happens. It may be that period? Our Lead Guitarist went thru 2-3 during that period & they all had some kind of issue.. He returned them all & got something else.. I've shied away from them. But, if I were interested it would probably be the one with the Ebony Fretboard... I did buy a Gibson Memphis Blacktop ES Les Paul with MHS Pickups & Bigsby that is an absolute fantastic Guitar.. And it's good Looking! Like a Bad *** Tuxedo... Under 6 lbs. One of the ES Les Paul's might be a consideration.? I'm keeping my eye out for another one, the Gold Top, P90's & Bigsby..
  3. P90's do just about everything extremely well... My P90 Guitars, a Gibson LP Special, Epi. Lennon Revolution Casino, Epi. 50th Anniv. 1961 Casino with Tremotone & a Peerless '65 Casino with Bigsby.. I have the new USA Tea Burst Epi. Casino ordered.. I also have a Gibson Bozeman Masterbilt Solid Top J-160E... I also have a Fender AV 65 Jazzmaster & a Fender Squier J Mscis Jazzmaster. Both very P90ish.... Love them P90's!
  4. I totally get the Treble Bleed reasoning.. As for the other I can understand personal playing style preference mods..
  5. One String at a time, after attaching new String to tail hold it in place on fretboard with a Capo then tighten Tuner.. Easy, works great, no intonation. Problems.. Same technique for Guitars with Bigsby's..
  6. Is it supposed to make you sound Ike Jimmy Page? Did it for the Poster who got them? I think there is a lot more going on than a PCB Board.. Page's '59 didn't have one or did the Amps he used.... Oh, Then, there's the Fingers..
  7. They're like Cars to me, in a way... They have to be the total package.. Looks, Build, Feel, Sound plus above & beyond Performance capability..
  8. The 490R & 498T are great Pickups.. They most everything well. The other Pickups I think may be even better are the Gibson MHS Pickups.. I've found a few keepers. A Gibson Vintage Sunburst Memphis ES335 with MHS, a 90's Heritage Cherry Gibson LP Std. Plus with 490R & 498T & a 2014 Gibson Memphis Blacktop ES LP with MHS Ppickups. To finally settle on these Guitars I played numerous Gibsons. Solid, Hollow & Semi Hollow & those 2 Sets of Pickups IMO sound very close to the Original PAF Humbuckers that were in my Vintage 1959 Gibson ES345... Which was the best sounding Guitar I've ever heard. The PAF Humbucker Pickups on it sounded amazing! The other thing I suggest is addressing your Guiitars overall Set up.. Not just the Action but from the Tuners to the Bridge & everything in between fine tuning everything including the Pickups adjustment... Good luck..
  9. I regret selling a mid to late 50's Gibson Les Paul Jr. with P90. And a mint Vintage Sunburst 1959 Gibson ES345 Stereo. You know, the one with Original PAF Humbuckers... Best sounding Guitar I've ever heard.. I've been chasing that Sound ever since.. Nothing does.. A couple come close but nothing compares to those Pickups on that Guitar.. I was so naive..
  10. I recently got the 50th Anniv. Set by The Beatles.... Abbey Road as a gift from my Kids.. I was skeptical about yet another Remixed & Remastered version... My skepticism dissolved when I heard it.. It's an amazing Album & this new Remix Remaster is Sonic Bliss! Especially with good Headphones!!!
  11. Different Schools of thought on this. When your Guitar is dimed you have nowhere to go but down. Unless you readjust your Amp.. In which case you may find yourself readjusting your Amp every other song.. Also, probable loudness wars if you're in a Band.. The other School of thought is, adjust all Guitar knobs to 5 or half way, then dial in the Amps Volume & Tone to where it's just starting to break up.. By doing this, you have a good mid point.. You want more crunch turn up your Guitar Volume & adjust Tone. You want it lower for Rhythm Parts, you turn the Guitar down & tweak the Guitars Tone knob.. You can go up & you can go down in volume. You can adjust a Tone to desire.. Actually, there is a myriad of Sounds & Tones available using just your Guitar by selecting the Pickup combination, adjusting the Guitars Volume & Tone Knobs.. Some of the top Pro Guitarists & Legends in Music use/used the latter method & were/are Masters at it... There are tons of YouTubes that get into the Technique....
  12. How do you dial in your Guitar & Amp to begin with? Do you set Guitar Volume & Tone aprox. 50% then dial in your Amp or do you dime your Guitar Volume & Tone then dial in your Amp. The prior gives you much more versatility to adjust the Guitars Volume & Tone when turning Guitar up or down.. The latter not so much..
  13. Zoom is the new hot Format.. Tried Skype & Facebook a long time ago & had latency issues... Maybe they're ok now?
  14. None here either.. Looks great.. And, you can use a Vibramate. Plus, it's a Bigsby. They work great with no issues..
  15. I have a Bigsby & Vibramate on a Gibson ES Les Paul.. No hole drilling necessary.. No Tuning issues.. Looks awesome & works perfectly. Plus it's completely reversible & leaves no scars.. Best Guitar Mod product to come along in years! Although on that Guitar I would prefer the long Maestro...
  16. We are living in a time when knowledge is increasing beyond Mach Speed exponentially. Unfortunately, Wisdom isn't.... I was just getting ready to sign up with Zoom for family visiting.. Not sure now?
  17. I'm so skeptical of phony scam solicitations in the Mail or Online that I haven't opened it.. How do you know when it's not a Scam?
  18. This is certainly a good time to rethink the insane massive Over Production of Crappy Junk from China.. Plenty of it from other Places too. It's a great time to rethink about the USA Producing High Quality, High Class Goods with Superior World Class Excellence QC & Content.. Definitely time America gives the same serious commitment to Treatments for the Flu, Common Cold, Cancer & Alzheimers that we gave to AIDS. This may be our last chance for a World Re-Set. I hope we are paying attention & take advantage of the opportunities to Change..
  19. I buy a lot of Gear. Who you do business does matter.. Not just for the Sale but after the Sale as well.. Some take the time to post Pics of the actual Guitar you're buying, with weight, specs etc. You can see what you're buying. Sweetwater does that.. Others do too.. They do a 50 Pont inspection & a decent Set up.. They also have a Custom Shop for Mods.. I've had Bigsby's with Vibramates added on a couple Guitars & they came out perfect.... Them & Wildwood seem to have the nicest Guitars. I don't know why but they do.. The above, Musiciansfriend, Sam Ash & Guitar Center all have 45 day "no hassle" Return policies. Others listed above do too... Good luck & look forward to seeing & hearing about your new Les Paul!
  20. J-200 is a definite YES! I have a friend who has the nicest sounding one I've ever heard. I'm waiting for him to sell it to me! I have a '65 IBJL Lennon Revolution Casino in Natural, a Peerless '65 in Sunburst Casino with Bigsby & a Sunburst 50th Anniv. RI Casino with Tremotone (like Keith Richards). They are the most versatile Electric Guitars there are IMO.. The answer to that question a Big Triple Yes!
