  1. See below, my 1975 L5s My cherry sunburst has a two piece top and weighs 9.2 lb. Two piece tops are quite a bit more rare than the three piece tops. I know of a one-piece top out there too!
  2. you could alligator clamp them in to test them without solder
  3. They usually fade more than get darker. I've never heard of a cherry getting darker with age. In the 50's (and some custom shop guitars ) the aniline die would fade under UV exposure, less so in the modern finishes.
  4. Thank for the link, but although I love Ron Wood's playing with the Faces, I think they made his sig model too much like a Les Paul. I love the carved maple body, and the big headstocks of the originals:) I have two of the originals and I love them! One has the L5 tailpiece, and the other, that I found here has the TP6 tailpiece. They are GREAT guitars!
