That's different & distinctive looking LP 4H. I like the black plastics & knobs with that dark staining.

What's for breakfast,lunch, or dinner?
merciful-evans replied to Mr. Gibson's topic in The Gibson Lounge
125g tin of mackerel. 4 sesame crispbreads and large tub of natural yogurt (eating on the move today). Playing at a Southampton pub this evening; last time they supplied pizza. Maybe will again? -
G-Force is gone. Weight is 292 grams. Pictures

A novel thought (to me anyway). I wonder how heavy/absorbent the tuners would need to be silence the guitar entirely? -

I have never heard of the headstock weight affecting tone/sound before. It's curious. Perhaps a headless model would be good for you? -
Why the Gibson Les Paul Is Better Than the Fender Stratocaster
merciful-evans replied to adamlovesgin's topic in Reviews
Entirely subjective again. Myself, I love the sound of Fender (classic single coils) guitars more than any other guitar. I used a Strat exclusively (for electric gigs) for 20 years. A Les Paul? It handles better. -

That sounds like a good hospital! All the same, I hope you get out soon Digger. After a week of salad & stir fry veg, I'm looking forward to some fish & chips before the weekends out. -
I may come across as heartless, but for someone who clearly loved his dog to demonstrate such a massive lack of understanding as evidenced by this anthropomorphised rhetoric is ridiculous. I understand that he needs to express his grief, but youtube is overindulgent IMO.

That was good. I didn't know about the frequency limits. Nice review Searcy

Great idea. This sort of thing is the best use of YOUTUBE. post up a link when you're done. -
I played many at shops. Especially last year and I was less than impressed most of the time. It seemed to me that some (2015 LP Special DCs) they were slipping tuning and needed to be re-tuned too often. Also, unless you knew how to operate them it was annoying when someone left them in an open tuning. So when I bought my LP last year, it was despite the G-Force tuners. But having bought one, it seemed silly to just change tuners without giving it a proper chance. Anyway, I still have it and its behaved well. I have grown to like it. Rob Chapman had an interesting point of view on these. He said at first he didnt like them, but then reasoned that we all use electronic tuners without complaint. So why not go the extra step & let it tune for us?
-
I tuned my guitars by ear for the best part of 25 years. Then I lost my ability to pitch (long story). So I started using the tuner in my signal processor. Last year got a guitar with the G-Force tuners. I didn't know if if I'd keep the tuners or not. Ive had it 8 months now without a problem. Its quick & accurate. So do I have your approval to keep playing guitar? I've been playing for 45 years. Does that make a difference?

The tone of the Victory on Scotts video was stunning!

Snappers are sea fish I think. Are they locally caught? Or is that a lake? It looks like a nice place to live, especially if there are locally caught fish! -

Yesterday evening haddock kedgeree with spinach and butterbeans :) -
I liked the tones Rob demonstrated. Especially the clean one. The gainy one just proved that it can still be a proper LP. I prefer the look of f holes but could be swayed if the sound was better (to my ears). What am I saying?! I cant afford something like that :o !

lunch was the usual 4 crispbread with some spread & Marmite. A banana & a Pink Lady apple. Not much fresh at home so will stop to get some mushrooms, corgette and peppers on the way home. Stir Fry with some spelt pasta is the general idea. Plain yogurt to finish. -

In an hour or so I will breakfast on porridge & oat milk. Tea will sustain me until then. -

Thanks to all here for your views. I've learned something from you. Stein, I think you nailed it right there for me. But as I said, I'm unlikely to bid on the 335, but I will certainly give it a good once-over if I do make the auction.
-
I'm surprised by that Larry. A repair would leave it stronger. Whats the concern with a repair?
-
I may visit this auction. I probably wont bid on this, but it certainly is a looker. Early 70s serial no: 130259 It is not in great shape, but no serious problems. Needs fret levelling, set up etc. Headstock has been repaired. Condition described as 'Fair'. Est £1000 - £1500

I wasnt aware of the price hike until you posted. Are there still any cheaper 2015 Studios around? (Assuming you don't mind those).
