  1. I previously heard the same thing from another small shop (6 years ago?) - and they quit carrying Gibsons. Might not be strictly as a result of the bankruptcy.
  2. I love the walnut sound, between RW & Mahogany. But isn't this a pricier J-15? Is there a difference between the J-15 and the J-45 sustainable? (granted, the J-15 has a walnut fingerboard.)
  3. Walnut is my preferred choice of tone. It's awesome! Better than either 'Hog or RW.
  4. I have a 2015 J-15, and the way it has opened up is stunning. Full bass, clear and separate mids & highs. It is an amazing guitar. It sounds better than Hog or Rosewood to my ears. Clearly one of the finest guitars Gibson has made. I'm note sure why the J-15 doesn't get more respect? Is it because the exotic woods from overseas have more pizazz? " prophet is without honor in his own country?" Every once in a while I think about getting an axe"new" voice....but then I strum the J-15 and those thoughts go away.
  5. I'm talking fret board on the high e & b & g strings, 2nd & 3rd & 4th frets.
  6. I've had my Montana J-15 3 years now & love it, but I just changed the strings & noticed some indentation on the neck. Read once that walnut was a softer wood than rosewood or ebony, makes me wonder what it will look like in 30 years? Wonder if it would be covered under warranty? Anyone else having a similar issue? Other than that the thing is a beauty!
  7. I've tried all the above, and my preference is far away the Pickboy. Comes to about 90% of the sound of a BLue Chip for about 1/40th the price. http://www.osiamo.com/products/PickboyPicks
  8. Taylor announced a new kind of bracing, called V in place of the standard X. They say it produces a brighter, fuller sound and is a remarkable achievement. However, I don't care for the brightness of Taylors, was wondering if Gibson will experiment with the new style bracing and how long will it be before we see it introduced?
  9. Today is my J-15's 3-year birthday. Paul at Music Villa in Bozeman said it would open up, and I didn't know exactly what he was talking about. But oh wow, it is so much richer, fuller, with more deep bass and mid tones than when I first brought it home. "Sparkle & Thump"! I was thrilled with the sound the first time I strummed a G chord on it, but the sound now is unbelievable. Wondering if it will continue to "open up"? Can't say enough about my J-15, born Feb. 4, 2015.
  10. Thanks for the advice, I'm trying to figure out how to get it back to Music Villa (150 miles away). They have been over the top good at everything else whenever I visit their store. It's an awesome place! And thanks too for the advice, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
  11. It buzzes without being plugged in.
  12. Yes, Montana is very dry, but I keep a humidifier in it all the time.
  13. What's a jack pin? You mean where I plug it in?
  14. It seems as if my high E string is losing altitude. When I look at the strings across the sound hole the High E is lower than the others by about 1/8 an inch. And it's giving me a buzz sound that is especially noticeable when I plug it in. Is this a saddle issue? A nut issue? Anyone else ever have this happen? My guitar is a 2015 J-15 bought new from Music Villa in Bozeman. Would this be covered under warranty?
  15. Far away the best pick I've discovered is Pickboy 1.0. It seems to have great projection, very little pick noise, and glides off the strings. They aren't easy to find, just google them and see what you can get. They're about $1 each, and I like them better than the $10 picks or the $30 picks.
