I previously heard the same thing from another small shop (6 years ago?) - and they quit carrying Gibsons. Might not be strictly as a result of the bankruptcy.
I love the walnut sound, between RW & Mahogany.
But isn't this a pricier J-15? Is there a difference between the J-15 and the J-45 sustainable? (granted, the J-15 has a walnut fingerboard.)
I've owned a J-15 for about 5 months and it's just starting to get better sounding opening up. It's an awesome guitar. So good, in fact, that it even makes old strings sound pretty good.
