  1. Turkey burgers, stir-fried in olive oil and garlic, with sliced cherry tomatoes and jalapeño peppers, fresh from my garden. Topped with cheddar cheese and pepper-jack cheese and black pepper. With some ranch dressing on the side. Man. So good. Here are the leftovers.
  2. I am with Rabs and rct on this. Over the years, when my dogs can no longer live a life free of pain and indignity, and we have done all we can to help them be comfortable, we go in with them to the Vets and hold them and tell them we love them. The first injection makes them drowsy and comfortable, and the second sends them off to sleep. The last sounds they hear are our voices, and the final sensations they know are our loving touch and a blissful absence of pain. It's always hard, it's always heart-breaking, but we all know the drill; it's what we sign-on for whenever we take on a new puppy or kitty.
  3. I was just being silly, C.O. I love cats, and all animals. It was just an attempt at humor.
  4. I thought the video was very sweet, and a loving tribute to a beloved pet who was sorely missed. It's not like it was a cat, or some other similarly-lesser house pet.
  5. Oh man. Thanks for posting that. Such a good and heart-felt video. We lost our old boy Chuck earlier this year at age 12. He was a German Shepherd/Golden retriever mix. Last year his brother Rudi passed away at 14. Rudinski was a dachshund, and they were best buddies. Prayers to you and the entire family. Those dogs, they love unconditionally, and they hold our hearts. More importantly, they make us better people by their very example of goodness. Here is an old photo of Chuck and Rudi from their younger days, visiting Chattanooga, TN.
  6. Great job by you, Digger! I am on a low carb diet most of the time, so this morning it'll be sausage, sliced tomatoes, and scrambled eggs. (No bread, no biscuits, no potatoes.) :(
  7. My garden has exploded this week, so I threw some jalapeño peppers, bell peppers, tomatoes, onion, and banana peppers into the Ninja blender, and made some fine-ground salsa for tomorrow. Man, it is going to be good. :)
  8. Reading directly from Fjestad's Blue Book (14th Edition, sorry, not the latest one), a 1976 Gibson Les Paul Standard was indeed offered in the gold-top. By all visible evidence, it's a Standard.
  9. Thank you, sir.

    I'm a giver.

    It's what I do, I give.

    :)

  10. I made this for my bride late this morning. THE VERY BEST BANANA SANDWICH, EVER Make a peanut butter sandwich. Leave it open-face for a minute. Layer banana slices onto the peanut butter faces. Drizzle with local bee honey. Sprinkle crisp bacon bits onto all. Close it up. Whip up an egg, some vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a bowl. Dunk the sandwich in there, and coat both sides. (just like you are making French Toast, get it?) Drop the sandwich onto a hot skillet with some sizzling butter or olive oil on it. Fry the sandwich just like you are making French Toast. Get it nice and brown on the edges, and the set it on the serving plate. Dollop some whipped cream on there, and drizzle more honey over all. Serves one hungry wife, or seven anorexic super-models.
  11. I must confess that my dislike for the auto-tuning/G-force device is purely visceral and aesthetic; I am opposed to any foreign object on the headstock of a guitar. It just bothers me, and I can't explain it much beyond that. Seeing an artist playing with the clip-on tuner left on the headstock, for instance. It distracts me greatly. The bulk of the auto-tuning mechanism just plain looks wrong somehow. And in the end, I don't mind tuning my guitar by hand. It's sort of like either happily mowing your lawn, or paying somebody else to mow your lawn. I like mowing my lawn, so I do it myself. I'm weird, so sue me.
  12. Ham and eggs over-easy Fried nice and lean, so it's not so greasy Hot coffee with sweet creamer and brandy Standing tall now, must've woke up randy No bread or toast 'cause I'm trying to stay slim Packing up my gear, about to go for a swim Hope your Saturday is full of fun and guitar play Wishing you all a wonderful day! :)
  13. I have only seen cracks in the nitrocellulose like that but rarely. Interesting how those anomalous cracks are on or near the volume and tone knobs. Tell me; Is is particularly dry where you live (as in the desert southwestern US), or is it seasonally humid?
  14. For my lunch today. INCHON SALAD (or in Korean, 인천 상륙 작전 샐러드) 1/4 lb ham, cubed small 1/4 lb cheddar cheese, also cubed small 1 large kosher dill pickle, chopped 1/2 cup Korean kimchee, chopped fine 1 tsp black pepper 1/4 cup ranch dressing Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl, stir well, cover, and refrigerate for at least two hours. Serve as is, or on the side of grilled meats and white sticky rice. Serves three adults or seven super-models.
  15. Well, heck. The video link wouldn't load. Copy and paste this Dropshots link into a new browser window, and the silly song should load and play for you. Hopefully. http://www.dropshots.com/video.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fmedia5001.dropshots.com%2Fphotos%2F472864%2F20160410%2F075142.mp4
  16. Here's a bit of a lark for your Sunday viewing. I was listening to Robbie Dupree's song from the early 1980's, Steal Away. This was six years ago or more. Couldn't find any chords online that seemed to work, so I crafted what I could just from listening to the original. I don't own a Coral Sitar, so I had to make the sitar noises with my mouth. Comedy music at best. I may have been drinking.
  17. Oh yeah, your finish was called 'Natural Satin' back then. I'm sure it's aged nicely. B)
  18. The first Marauder was indeed shipped in early 1975, though the model was introduced in 1974. It was a difficult time for sales at Gibson, believe it or not. There's a very good chance that your neck was originally produced in 1972, (ostensibly destined to be mounted on a Flying V), but sales were down, so the neck may have sat in bench stock for a couple of years. I love the Marauder, personally. I remember that KISS endorsed them, and I was a big KISS fan in those days. During the Destroyer tour (1976 or so) Paul Stanley used to play a black Marauder on one particular song, and then would destroy it on stage, a la Pete Townsend. Gibson shipped dozens of Marauders to KISS, for just that purpose. :)
  19. Seymour Duncan SSL-5. Great tone, fantastic quality. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Seymour-Duncan/SSL-5-RW-RP-Custom-Staggered-Single-Coil-Middle-Pickup.gc

  21. Welcome, LeftHandRipperBass! Great story, and an awesome mystery. All I can find on it indicates that you have a one-off rarity. The L-9-S bass guitar was introduced in 1973, and then renamed The Ripper in 1974. It was made until 1982. A Ripper II bass was introduced in the summer of 2009. A pristine 1970's Ripper bass is worth well over a thousand dollars. I can only imagine that, if you wanted to sell that rare beast, you could fetch $2,000 for it, considering its unusual pedigree, and the fact that you are the sole owner. Looking forward to your future posts! :)

  23. e-Chords displays their primary interpretation of the song Angie as it being in the key of Am. http://www.e-chords.com/chords/the-rolling-stones/angie My bandmates and I (none of us properly school-trained, or able to read a note of sheet music) generally call a song 'in the key of' whatever cord the song starts out in. For instance, we could play JJ Cale's Call Me The Breeze in either the key of A or the key of E, depending upon which one of us in the band felt like singing the lead. If we kicked into that song then, one of us would call out, "Call Me The Breeze in A," and then we would play in the three chord progression of A, D, and E. If our girl singer says, "Call Me The Breeze in E," we would proceed with the performance in E, A, and B. Key of C, in that same blues progression, would be C, F, and G. It may not be proper, but that's how we do it. And trust me, whatever the girl singer wants, she gets. She's a regular diva, that one. :(
  24. My 2001 Copper Top. I do so love this guitar. :)
