It was a neck pickup.
the headstock repair was horrible.
wouldn't say how much he wanted asked me to make an offer
I said give me some kind of price range.
I was thinking $500 Canadian .He said $2500
I said nope we are way too far apart. shortly after he removed it from the market.

Locally someone is selling a 1941 Gibson ES150.
poorly repaired headstock break
non original P90 pick-up, pots and wiring harness
reset neck crack about 12" on back from bottom to about halfway up on body
over all finish is scratched but not too bad.
no pick guard, modern case
What might be a reasonable price for what seems to me as a husk

The finish checking is awesome.

Unless there is structural damage , or something that is effecting playability.do nothing.
There are people who actually pay good money to relic a new or refinished guitar to get that look.
Refinishing that guitar would devalue it buy about half.

Doesn't look in bad shape. little bit of over spray can be cleaned off.
That is a 1962-63. There might be a date code on the outer rim of the speaker to pinpoint the date closer .

black tolex silver cloth 65-66
67-68 were the thor ones with vertical flat sides

Both the volute and the TOM . were added to the ES 175D in 1976.
So you've got the date as close as you have to for value.
The Tom may have been a dded around the same time as the tuners, as both would have been thought at the time as upgrades

not an expert but the pot sounds like it needs cleaning. or replaceing

while great condition might add a small premium.
I doubt that the guitar will ever be of any great collector value.
any increase in value will be strictly tied to inflation
sell it for as much as you can get for it ( lots of them out there ).
get the guitar you want.

They numbered solid body Gibson's like that from 1953 till sometime in 1961,
All solid bodies including lap steel guitars
That is not how they numbered acoustics. I do not Know how they numbered acoustics but someone will chime in.

funny switch location as most line up straight with upper pots.
looks like neck PU is moved away from neckjoint but not as far as most. could be 58
maybe edges sanded down on refinish.

Unless it's a reissue, late 1959 1960 or early1961.
Specials changed from single to double cut mid 1958.
Neck pickup moved back from neck joint to strengthen the weak joint late in 1959.
Les Paul removed from headstock sometime in 1960???maybe 1961. PS late 59 unless refinished from TV yellow
rounded off body so not 1958.
you might have to look at pot codes if original to get a closer date.

that amp is older than 59
that style was from 40's maybe very early 50's

supposed to be similar numbers on the speakers. Went to look at mine 62 & 63 the one with original speaker had no numbers or was painted over.

Need way better photo's to accurately date that guitar.

Maybe the guitar was played like a lap steel and it was more comfortabe to plug in on the back,
so the chord hung down instead of out sideways. Just a guess.

TV yellow or cherry red?
looks to me that there is some tv yellow on the suface where the control cavity backplate screws on.
