Wow, that's really horrible. Obviously great news that nobody was injured. Also nice that your gear was spared. I think about things like this and it scares the crap out of me. Can't imagine what it's like to live it. Sounds like you're handling it as good as anyone could hope. Good luck.

I used one of these products: https://gluboost.com/ Can't remember which one right now but I e-mailed them and told them what i wanted to use it for and they gave me a specific recommendation. I'm at work now but when I get home i'll let you know which one it is. You want a fairly low viscosity so it flows into the filling material easily. I filled the slot with the bone "dust". I only loosely packed it so it would flow in around all the dust, which it did very nicely. I over filled them slightly so I had to file the filled areas down even with the rest of the nut. When I was done with that I could hardly tell where the original slots were. Oh, I did mark the position of the slots on the sides of the nut so I was sure to refile in the same place. Anyway, it left me with a very hard, hopefully durable surface.

I've never replaced a nut before either. But, my 339 did have a nut with the E, A and D strings cut too deep. The E and A were the worst. I figured it couldn't hurt to try the super glue method. I ground up some bone from a blank, filled the slots with that then just a drop of thin super glue. Then refiled the slots. Worked out great. I don't know what problems you have with your nut but, if that would help it may be worth a try.

Some more numbers from Oregon from yesterday. So far 7269 total tested and 6953 are negative. That's 95% negative which is great. Especially because that is not a random sample from the general population. We are limiting testing to only people felt to be at high risk for actually having the infection. That's because we don't have enough testing capacity in terms of tests and PPE to test everyone. I think that's basically what's being done nationwide. The national numbers are about 85% negative which is still pretty good.

The problem with all viruses is that they kill some people. With H1N1 in 2009 it was healthy young kids. There are variations every year with seasonal Influenza. With Covid it's mainly older sicker people and some young people too. The point is that overall the mortality of this virus seems low. It also seems that large segments of the population get exposed and infected but never develop any symptoms or illness. That's going to go way up. Off to the clinic this morning to see more potential Covid-19 cases. I had two cases of really bad pneumonia that went to the ICU. Both look like they're going to rule out for Covid-19 based on their x-ray and CT findings but the Covid tests aren't back yet. My system announced that we have 12 days of PPE left. It was 9 but due to a marked decrease in visits and conservation it's been extended. I buy my own masks because the ones at work don't fit me very well. I have about 2 months supply at home.

Some are sheep, some are wolves. They both meet the same end.

1) The staff were working around those residents for a long time before anyone knew they were positive. I've worked in and been around lots of these types of facilities and they usually wash their hands once a day, whether they need it or not. You have way too much faith in them. 2) When I was referring to "the numbers" I wasn't referring to the outbreak in the VA home. I was referring to the total US nation wide numbers. 3) The economic downturn had nothing to do with Covid-19. Right.

I remember that too. The internet is amazing though. My wife shops a lot online. She's an exercise fanatic and is in great shape. But, with the online shopping comes the pop ads for the things she shops for. Lots of hotties in exercise clothes. It's better than the Sears catalog.

In my county we had an outbreak/cluster at a Veterans home. There are around 150 residents there and around 250 staff. 14 residents became infected. The average age was 90 years old. eventually only 4 staff members became infected. That's pretty remarkable considering the daily close contact they have with the residents. There has been intensive screening and testing going on here and to date there have not been any other cases identified in the area with the sole exception of one physician in a neighboring town. The good news is also that only one of the Vets eventually got sick enough to be hospitalized. Sadly, he eventually died. He was over 90 years old. All of the other Vets are recovering in place at the facility. If you put aside all the hype from the media and look at this objectively, it doesn't really seem that bad. If you compare what's happening now by the numbers to past viral pandemics it seems that these drastic measures being taken are probably not necessary and are quite possibly causing more harm than good.
