  1. I new to the world of les paul guitars, i want to buy a R7/R8 or 58 custom shop or what ever they are called, i can´t keep track of all these different models.. I´ve seen R8´s from as early as the late 90´s? any good or should i just grab a new 2016 58 custom from my local dealer.. I once tried a 2013 R7 and i was impressed..

  3. Hi, i´ve just been to my local 4sound and tried a few Les pauls, I´ve ran into a slight issue, It seems like I have to forget the standards and go for an Custom shop , R7,R8 , or basically the higher end of the les paul market.. I tried a 58 custom shop, it was very nice. I´ll have to save up the extra cash.. Next problem is.. Are there any of the newer custom shop that i should avoid?? any changes for better or worse? Or it is the case of just try every one that i can get my hands on?? The R7 VOS is now sold otherwise i would have taken it..
  4. Hmmmmm alot to take in... Since i live in Sweden i´m a bit limited for choice, guess i´ll have to try anything and everything i can get my hands on.. What confuses me is all the titles, Traditional, classic, premium, and i´ve just found a cheapish les classic 60 from 1997 just down the road.. and then i do like the VOS 1957 goldtop.. Would the VOS 57 goldtop be both a good investment and better than the others (Standards, classics, traditional and so on...)?
  5. Hi all, I´ve just sold my 1976 les paul standard and i´m looking for a newer les paul standard.. I´ve heard alot about les paul standards from the 90´s being the best?? I´m also looking at a 2009 57 goldtop VOS... Don´t want to spend anymore than ca £1600/1600euros/1650 Dollars I want something that has sustain and not to heavey...
  6. I have a 1976 Les paul standard in Tabacco. Question is, are all these newer guitars as good or any better TONE wise, i don´t care about looks or weight, i want that classic les paul sound!! So apart from the fact that i can´t afford an original Late 50´s or 1960, i´m open to other models/versions of a Les paul. I´ve tried a few CC and i´m not sure what to make of them? I feel my 76 has a ton more sustain and more tone?? A friend told me the best les pauls were built in the early 90´s??? Was wondering if anyone else had tried both a 70´s standard and compaired with other modern les pauls??
  7. ooooh wooow that it one nice guitar :-) I have no choice but to continue saving for a 60´s 355, it´s my dream, so i might as well make it happen.
  8. Also i think a lot of new guitars sound very dry and lifeless, as you clearly pointed out. I´m a vox man, i only use a AC30 and a 2x12cab with 70´s greenbacks to help with the thick sounding overdrive or distortion. Well tomorrow i will try a new green 2015 355 and if there´s any potential, otherwise i´ll continue saving and grab me 60´s 355.
  9. Well i´ll try a new 355 on monday just to give it a go even though all the Gibsons i´ve tried an old 335 vs a new, an old SG standard vs a new, a 76 les paul standard vs r9 and CC 30 Gabby, the vintage sounded better each and every time, but i have to give the new 355 a chance since i can afford one now otherwise i´ll have to save up for the real deal.. I beileve most new gibson´s are copies of old Gibsons, why build a copy of an old if they can´t build/make a new a better guitar??? or??
  10. Hmmmmmm well said. I´ve looked around here in Sweden and i can´t find a single vintage 355 for sale to try. I am going to try a new green 355 on monday. I´ve had a few newer Gbisons, one of them a 2001 beale street blue 335, it was really bad sounds wise, it looked and felt amazing, but the sound seemed dry and not much sustain.. so i sold it..
  11. Yes i agree price or value doesn´t matter. For me it´s the sound, i´m not to bothered about the looks. I´m going to date a 2015 355 on monday, hope she sounds nice.
  12. First off i´m new to the world of 355´s!! All i know is that i´m in love with the tone of a 1961 es355 The neck pickups is so smooth is hurts.... The bridge pickups really shouts... it´s sooo F....ing perfect Pleae listen to from the start until 4min 25secs. My question is, is there any differnce between the early 60´s, 70´s and the newer 355´s??? Either i´ll buy a newer one or save for a vintage.
