  1. Thats a sweet look'n Gibson. What are your thoughts on her? I assume she is a cannon!
  2. Just about anything....A few small luthier guitars, a nice yamaha LS26, Martin HD28, Taylor 26Koa,.....never felt satisfied. This one sounds just right. I still have my Martin OM21 for on the couch while my wife is in the room for softer playin'. Im intrigued by the new gibson satin finish guitars....like the J-35.
  3. yep and sorry as you are correct....its a 60s model. I wish it was an original 60s in this shape!
  4. Been several years since I sold my J45 and found a slightly used 60's J45 with wine color and the adjustable bridge. Its not the traditional color and some don't care for the adjustable bridge but I can say with no reservations....this guitar sounds and looks great. I have Monels on her and Angie has never sounded so good. Anyway, glad to be back with a Gibbie again. Play On!
  5. Hello fellow Gibbies, So seriously considering coming to the dark side and getting a Gibson ELECTRIC Guitar😮 Love my J 45 but always wanted to mess around and dance with an electric. So seeing the LP Special Jr double cuts for around 700 bucks new. Any thoughts on this model?? Good or bad?? I really do not speak electric guitar so any opinions/thoughts would be helpful. It will be a kinda "noodle" guitar and I need to keep my price below 1k. Open to any other suggestions, however, I love Gibson. I would consider hollow-body if I could find one in the target price range.
  6. Played a few J 15s.....wonderful guitars and might end up with one. Remember, your string selection will make an impact on the guitars sound. Lots of strings to consider and you might need to research . For the $$, the J15 is a solid buy, easy choice. Good luck and play on!
  7. Thanks all for the great suggestions.......flight leaves in 8 hrs...time for bed!! Will take notes for anyone that might need ideas in the future........Play On!
  8. Hey fellow Gibbys......Going to NY for 6 days n leave tomorrow. Hitting a Broadway Musical-Girl from the North Country (revolves around Dylan songs). Yo Yo Ma on Wednesday......otherwise free to wander. Will likely revisit the Dakota, just because...I have to. Tell me about any other music related spots that you might recommend. Cheers!!
  9. RIP Neil.....Hell of a drummer and also wrote the lyrics. I don't think a day goes by when I don't play Subdivisions in my head. I will smile when I hear thunder.....Play on Neil.
  10. I too am addicted to the J45 dry thump.......Monel mediums on mine....life is good.
  11. Yep....^^^ what dhanners said....mediums. Monel Retro's and leave em on for a few months to appreciate them.
  12. My, that looked like a steal......probably worked out best for me as I would have been thrown outa the house.
  13. Medium Martin Retro Monels nail it on my 2018 J45. If you like em now....wait a month!!
  14. Nice look'n guitar and sounds like a keeper.......those ol' guitars surly have some stories to tell.
  15. Congrats on that cool J45. More pics would be nice!! What part of Ireland are you from??
  16. ++ What Jinder said. Looks like Capo mojo.
  17. I'll be your brother......Cool project and ya get cool points for the photos. Thanks for posting!!
  18. Good vibes and Karma being sent your way Sal........Strike a D chord....it seems to pull in good vibes from outa nowhere. Peace...
  19. Nice vid/track Jinder!! This tune so reminded me of Ryan Adams Prisoner LP as it would fit right in. OK, Im sold...looking forward to purchasing your CD.
  20. Heck yea....John is on my radar.....Master of Disaster!! Will be look'n for a few JH tabs next.......dude sweats Gibson!!
  21. I believe a few are....purchased the book "Kalamazoo Gals" by John Thomas. Great read and sounds silly but I can see Broadway written all over this story!! Think about it!!
  22. Well.....regardless, I wish I had your dilemma.....Eastern Med is quite spectacular and quite sure you will pull some tunes outa that clear blue water. Regardless of your final pick, you must keep us up on this post as you move and expect a few pics from you as well!! OPA!!! and have a safe journey.
  23. Gota vote for the J-35 as it is simply a great guitar. I have however, heard that the Farida 22s are very friendly to the ear.....similar to a Gibson LG2 sound/vibe. Are you taking the environment into consideration?? ie, will the guitar be in a controlled environment?? Having spent some years in the Med,.....some hot summers!! Wow, talk about the ol' only one guitar to take on a deserted island situation...I guess at the end of the day, which guitar would you miss the most?? At least you will no longer be in the "Where music goes to die".
  24. Yep.....J 45 and ELO....Telephone Line, a blast on acoustic.
