  1. I'm glad that my posts haven't yet become tedious! I also find that this forum is a wondrous place to find new music and players! I lovingly thank all of you members who post such and help me deepen my love for music! Peace!
  2. My Dad was born in 1915 (he's gone since 2003) and lived in New York City just after WWII. He saw Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Dizzy, Miles, and just about anyone you could name who was playing at that time (which was everyone who was anyone). He and my uncle John would just go out bar hopping and see all these folks! I once asked him if, at the time, he had realised what/who he was seeing. He told me, "No,...John and I were just out getting drunk, dancing, and hitting on the ladies."
  3. Happy Anniversary, saturn! Not a whole lot of folks make thirty years these days! I guess, like me, you have a very tolerant wife! :) Gruhn's and Carter's for sure as well as the Parthenon. Any place with music is probably great...Nashville Cats and all that! Have a great time!
  4. That's a nice song, AnneS! I'm with you on the sentiment! Keep up the good work!
  5. Thanks, jaxson50! I never heard this fellow before! Great player! Favorites folder!
  6. I saw John with Shakti some years ago in Boston...Unbelieveable!! They had the son of the original ghatam player in the band and U. "Mandolin" Srinivas along with Zakir and ,of course, John. I have to say that it was one of the richest musical experiences of my life! I brought the cover of the "Handful of Beauty" album with me and the whole group signed it! It is truly one of my prize possessions! I got to talk momentarily yo John and Zakir after the show and found them both to be humble and kind. Just thought I'd share my tale... By the way, jdgm, is there any fantastic music that you haven't seen? To be honest, I envy you a bit!
  7. Fyoosh! That's spectacular! I think that if I could play half that well, I'd be at least four times the player that I am now! Straight to the favorites it goes! Thanks for the post Dennis G!
  8. I guess the title says it. Happy Birthday to (guitarist) John Williams! He is a wonderful classical guitarist who also did some fusion later in his carreer. He also has an O.B.E.! Anyhow, here he is playing the snot out of "Asturias" by Isaac Albeniz (one of my favorite virtuoso classical guitar pieces). The synchronization of the video is slightly off but, it's still great! As always, I hope you find some pleasure in the playing of Mr. Williams!
  9. It's Butch's 66th Birthday! Congratulations, man! I wish you many, many more of them as long as you wish them for yourself. Remember, age is a state of mind but, arthritis is for real! Peace, brother!
  10. Oh, good! I wanted to compliment you on your playing and the band...both quite excellent, sir! Peace!
  11. Great video, j45nick! I wish I could afford even one of those guitars! Vince seems like a very nice fellow. Thanks for posting this!
  12. Beautiful guitars! Are you the same tonedr that is in the Lexington Lab Band?
  13. Hey, capmaster! I also have been hoping you are OK. I haven't seen you posting in quite some time. Be well. Peace!

  14. You could also try a squirt of DeOxit when they get flinky. It works for me so far...
  15. Hey, dhanners623! I just came from your website and wanted to say,"Nice job!"! I like your music and voice and I like the Albert King stringing on your guitar. It gives the playing a different resonance/feel. Keep up the good work! Peace!

  16. Welcome, Joe! I hope you enjoy your stay! So, are you a retired musician or did you do something else? None of my business really; just curious. Peace!
  17. I find that coloring in the nut slots with a 0.5mm mechanical pencil (easily obtained at Walmart) works just fine. I use the ones with the plastic barrels; I think they're made by Bic. I've been doing it this way for a very long time. Just make the slots black on the entire inside surface and you're done. After that, touch 'em up when you change strings. It's a very economical solution that works well!
  18. Hey, QuestionMark. I thought I'd say "Hi!" and ask you if you are, in fact,a jazz player? I try to play jazz but, it's been a very long journey and I don't yet consider myself a "jazz player". Anyway, I hope you're well and thanks for your time and thoughtful posts! Peace!

  19. I am the proud owner of a trans blue plus top pro and I Love It! For the price, you can't go wrong with one. Also, despite protestations to the contrary, it's a better guitar than a lot of new Gibsons that I've played. I've played professionally for most of my life so I think my opinion has some validity. I would say that the only down side of this guitar is the toggle switch and the push-pull pots which have a tendency fail intermittently but, can be remedied with a spritz of De Oxit. Of course these components can also be replaced, if you so desire. Anyway, that's my take. Good Luck and Good Playing! Also, welcome to the forum!
  20. I've never had an SG but, I have found that onee can play jazz with just about any guitar. I used to Love using my Epiphone Korina V for jazz gigs! Not only did it sound great but, it had the added thrill of seeing everyone's O face as they wondered what they were about to hear!
  21. Hey, Marcus! I sent you a message about how to friend somebody...just go up on the right side of this page, click the first triangle, then click "Messenger" to see my response. Hoping all is well! Peace!

  22. Hey, Marcus! I just wanted to say that I enjoy your songs and lesson posts. Thanks!

  23. Hey, Man! just sayin' "Hi!" I hope all is well with you and yours! Peace!

  24. Hey, capmaster! Wanted to friend you and ask a question. Why do you suggest unplugging the guitar before putting it on a stand? Is there an electronic reason or, is it just precautionary? I enjoy your posts and look forward to your response. Thanks and Peace!

Hey, jdgm! I wanted to thank you for the tip off on Allan Holdsworth with Soft Machine and Jean Luc Ponty. I can't wait to get both of those albums on iTunes. Also, nice job on Stormy Monday! I like the Allman's version. Have you heard T-Bone Walker's or Bobby "Blue" Bland's? Check 'em out! Hope you're well and happy in "anywhere"! Peace!
