  1. Welcome, Joe! I hope you enjoy your stay! So, are you a retired musician or did you do something else? None of my business really; just curious. Peace!
  2. Oh! That's very nice! I've never heard her before. Thanks, MissouriPicker! Into my favorites folder she goes!
  3. I find that coloring in the nut slots with a 0.5mm mechanical pencil (easily obtained at Walmart) works just fine. I use the ones with the plastic barrels; I think they're made by Bic. I've been doing it this way for a very long time. Just make the slots black on the entire inside surface and you're done. After that, touch 'em up when you change strings. It's a very economical solution that works well!
  4. Hey, QuestionMark. I thought I'd say "Hi!" and ask you if you are, in fact,a jazz player? I try to play jazz but, it's been a very long journey and I don't yet consider myself a "jazz player". Anyway, I hope you're well and thanks for your time and thoughtful posts! Peace!

  5. Happy Birthday to Muddy Waters; an icon of the blues! Muddy's impact on electric blues cannot be overstated. His songs are staples of the blues repertoire..."Hootchie Kootchie Man", "Mannish Boy", "Champagne and Reefer", and so many others. Here is a selection that features his slide playing as well as his unparalleled singing. Ooohhh, Yeah...Whoo! That stingin' slide!
  6. I am the proud owner of a trans blue plus top pro and I Love It! For the price, you can't go wrong with one. Also, despite protestations to the contrary, it's a better guitar than a lot of new Gibsons that I've played. I've played professionally for most of my life so I think my opinion has some validity. I would say that the only down side of this guitar is the toggle switch and the push-pull pots which have a tendency fail intermittently but, can be remedied with a spritz of De Oxit. Of course these components can also be replaced, if you so desire. Anyway, that's my take. Good Luck and Good Playing! Also, welcome to the forum!
  7. I've never had an SG but, I have found that onee can play jazz with just about any guitar. I used to Love using my Epiphone Korina V for jazz gigs! Not only did it sound great but, it had the added thrill of seeing everyone's O face as they wondered what they were about to hear!
  8. Hey, Marcus! I sent you a message about how to friend somebody...just go up on the right side of this page, click the first triangle, then click "Messenger" to see my response. Hoping all is well! Peace!

  9. Hey, Marcus! I just wanted to say that I enjoy your songs and lesson posts. Thanks!

  10. Hey, Man! just sayin' "Hi!" I hope all is well with you and yours! Peace!

  11. Hey, capmaster! Wanted to friend you and ask a question. Why do you suggest unplugging the guitar before putting it on a stand? Is there an electronic reason or, is it just precautionary? I enjoy your posts and look forward to your response. Thanks and Peace!

Hey, jdgm! I wanted to thank you for the tip off on Allan Holdsworth with Soft Machine and Jean Luc Ponty. I can't wait to get both of those albums on iTunes. Also, nice job on Stormy Monday! I like the Allman's version. Have you heard T-Bone Walker's or Bobby "Blue" Bland's? Check 'em out! Hope you're well and happy in "anywhere"! Peace!

  13. Hi,Dave! Your Chuck Berry post really got to me. I faked that song for a long time and eventually, I decided to learn it the "right" way. I was blown away by how good it was/is! And... he could play like that while clowning! Whew! Again, Good Luck and Godspeed! Peace!

  14. Hey, 'Scales! Thanks for posting the cat picture! Cats are the shizz! Hope all is well and Peace to you!

  15. Howdy, kidblast! Just wanted to thank you for posting your stories! I sure hate it when a gig turns ugly but, there's nothing like the feeling of the crowd being with you! Good tales! Autumn's on its way so, stay warm up there in Taxachusetts! Peace!

Hey, rct! Just wanted to say,"Hello!" and hope all is well with you in N.J. I like reading your posts; they provide a nice bit of much needed levity and brevity; unlike my own... Peace!

Hey there, Rabs! Just sayin',"Hi!" and thanks for the cool lion pics. Cheers from across the pond!

  21. My pleasure, deeman! I also love guitar porn! If you want, go check out that video that I saw. I don't know how to embed a link but, my post is called "Check this out!". It's eighteen minutes of WTF?! I'd like to know what a guy has to do to be able to afford such a collection... not that I'd do it.

  22. Hey, Notes! Thanks for visiting my profile as well as your posts in general! I notice from your website that you're a Berklee guy, too. I got my paper in '86 I think... it's hard to remember exactly. Anyway, nice to chat and such. Hope all's well in sunny Florida! Cheers!

  23. Hey, Guitar God! Just wanted to say,"Hi!". That is certainly an impressive list of instruments, amps and effects! I'm a bit envious. Hope all's well in the Volunteer State...

  24. Hey, Doug! Just wanted to say "Hi!" and let you know that your ES-330's and that 335 are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing. Maybe you'd consider posting those pictures on my "ES-330 fans?" thread over at the Gibson Lounge. I think everybody would like to ogle them! Cheers!

  25. Hey, deeman! Just letting you know that I put up a picture of my ES-330. Thanks for prompting me to do so. Hope all is well with you in Chi-town! Stay safe! G Mac.
