  1. Some of us are just like that😝
  2. A lesson from days of yore in Viet Nam!
  3. I've used the pens - they get my vote.
  4. Not to mention you have one of the less common ones w/a nice sunburst!
  5. Price doesn't necessarily mean you'll accumulate the 'right' guitar for your style and sound. The more you realize about your needs, the more likely you are to make a good decision. Some folks (I refer to 'em as furniture buyers) buy for different reasons, but players can truly appreciate what an instrument actually is meant to do....
  6. I was in the don't worry about flat vs. quarter sawn camp last time the question came around. Still haven't been convinced that it makes much difference. And I totally agree that Gibson produces better guitars for the money than some of their competition. At least Gibson isn't slapping their logo on the budget Epi models - unlike Martin and Taylor.
  7. The back issue is one that was discussed here a ways back, but I can't recall exactly when. There were strong opinions at the time, though. Not necessarily mine, but a couple folks were pretty negative about flat sawn backs. If I were in the market, I'd be drawn to the J-29 on the basis of sound. They show up for sale in used condition from time to time on Reverb, just sayin'😐
  8. Again, there's a lot that's subjective - no harm in that....
  9. No annoyance on my part, and most of us on the forum have had experience dealing with questions like yours. Happy that you found the answer you wanted to hear😌
  10. Not to mention that the blurb is the seller's pitch and, thus, couldn't possibly be called into question😏
  11. The Indonesians have a pretty decent reputation over all at this time. Some of the Koreans do, others not so much. The case with both is that the consistently can vary from one example to the next. You're more likely to score a really outstanding Indonesion more often. A side-by-side comparison is the only sure way to tell, and even that's going to be greatly subjective.
  12. This lovely thread and the basher thread currently wasting space here as well should be allowed to perish with what little dignity they have remaining.
  13. Just went back to page 1 of this thread and did some rereading. PLEASE! All responses were realistic and supportive until the damn thing grew to be totally absurd. He wanted his sad little butt kissed. Maybe where he lives there's no access to a pity party phone line.
  14. In all fairness to you and the Phantom OP, invite him if you want. A plague of one-time trolls has a way of going through here on a cyclical basis - they manage to stir things up and then disappear😒
  15. Great thematic notion for a zombie film: "The Thread that Wouldn't Die Rearing It's Head in the Ugliest of Ways".
  16. Go for the head shot or they'll just get back on their feet😄
  17. You mean like "Help urgently needed 'cause my momma didn't show me enough attention as a child!!". Yep, you can nearly always see 'em coming....
  18. I love Guilds! In some circles, my friend, you have already reached the top of the pyramid👍😎👍
  19. So there we were back in the 70's, following like paths and arriving at like conclusions. Early Epi imports were - to be polite - running a little behind their Asian counterparts. I've owned and played a 1958 Epi Cortez since high school. Splended LG-2 with a NY Epi neck. My only issue with later Kalamazoo Epi models is the narrow nut width. Otherwise, they're fine guitars.
