  1. Question: I have a Fender acoustasonic 40 amp. I ran an XLR cable from the outlet of the fender amp to the M120 to one of 4 input channels. My bird (has LR Baggs VTC) is plugged into the Fender amp, amp is ON. The M120 PA is UNplugged from the wall outlet with all volume etc knobs off. I have sound coming out of the M120 PA's speakers (2-80watt) and I am able to control from the Fender amp. Is that normal? πŸ€”
  2. πŸ‘Good luck and do not get in a hurry working on it !
  3. I do not think so. That looks like foam adheasive tape.
  4. Yes ! πŸ‘Zippo for cleaning pickguard too.
  5. One more suggestion. Make sure the pickguard is totally flat before you apply the new 3m adheasive sheet to the back of it. You may need to lay it face down and warm it up slightly until it lays flat by itself without pushing down on it.
  6. Use only Naphtha for cleaning before applying new pickguard.
  7. Hope this helps. You're still gonna have to remove the existing pickguard with a dull nylon object very slowly a little at a time. I used NO heat on mine. I don't know of any other brand of double sided adheasive sheets I would be confident using. Maybe someone here or there can translate this for you. Hope this helps.
  8. Kidblast is correct. Don Ruffato sent me a factory pickguard because mine developed bubbles in it, the peel of backing on the pickguard had no brand, just white. The 3m to use is commonly known is 3M 200 MP it is also the exact same to 3M 467MP. This is a pickguard i bought for a different guitar.
  9. I used to use phone/app tuners and stopped years ago because everyone I would try, seemed to always be off compared to the tuners ( Snark, Korg and in-line)I had in hand. However, if a battery went dead or broke a phone app tuner was better than nothing. I forgot the names of the apps though. However, technology may have advanced more since then. I was using Samsung cell phones.
  10. EM7, thx for posting. interesting to learn the actual Bird is in the G mix. Not in the market as an actual Bird owner, but still interesting to follow/learn.
  11. Great song, nicely done. Brings back memories of being a song that was a welcome sound to the ears no matter what situation was/ had or heading into future times.
  12. I recently replaced my tusq saddle on my 2013 modern classic hummingbird with a Graph Tech tusq saddle (PQ-9400-CO). I reordered the same saddle to keep on hand. I noticed that particular saddle seemed a little scarce unless you ordered direct from graph tech and the time frame of weeks out to get. The other major suppliers were special ordered. I visited Gibson's website to see what new birds specs were now. To my surprise, they are using bone saddles now with graph tech pins. I know in the past years the birds came with tusq nut and saddles. People would replace the new tusq saddle that came with the guitar with a bone saddle only to say they put the tusq back in because it sounded better with tusq. If that be the case, has gibson changed anything of why they are using bone now for nuts and saddles on the birds in particular? Or has there just been a shortage of tusq? I know they have been using tusq pins for a while, so that was no surprise to me. In all, why from tusq to bone after all the years? πŸ€”
  13. Why would anyone in their right mind want to buy any Gibson guitar that ships from Japan, knowingly the only plant in world is in the U.S.? It makes no sense for someone in Japan to buy a (example) Gibson Hummingbird in the US sent to a Gibson dealer in Japan and turn around and ship it back for the same price you buy it for in the U.S. or even cheaper? Too many holes in the air here!
  14. Great job man, thanks. I've always liked Dylan's songs, they've always kept me with both ears turned on no matter how long the song. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
  15. I hear alot of Joplin in her style, the blueseyness. She's great.
  16. I would like to recommend an investment in a Hygrometer mainly for the case. I currently have two, one in the case and the other above my thermostat in my apartment. I have no affiliation with oasis but both of mine are the current OH-2+. Good accuracy and adjustable.
  17. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘nice BK !
  18. Have you designed a backrest so you don't wind up laying on your back ? Only one suggestion, turn the wind screen around and put your back against the rocks!
  19. Congratulations!!!!!!! The birds have a very mystic stand alone sound. The string gauges should be lights 12's thru 53's recommended by Gibson. I'm pretty sure the torrified tops only came on the true vintage models which are darker in color and have no factory on-board electronics and a carved pickguard. The one you have has the LR Baggs pick up I presume. I think I've read somewhere on the 2016, the finish color is described as a Vintage Heritage Cherry Sunburst. I have a 2013 bird with factory LR Baggs and is described as Heritage Cherry Sunburst that looks exactly like your photos. I'm sure some others who have one from your year will be walking in soon ! Again, congratulations!
  20. A very hearty welcome and "Congratulations" on the long road you journeyed to be an owner of one of the finest instruments in the world ! Brace for the impact from people who will compliment you and the mystical sound/sounds of the "Bird"!
  21. I'm with the other guys here about putting different gauge strings. I see the EJ15 (Dadarrio) strings are "extra light" 10-47's. Way way too light for such caliber of a j45. I would recommend to start with 12-53's or 12-54's before you start doing any type of adjustments, especially the truss rod. The truss rod is for neck relief and not action. The j45's from Gibson come out with at least 12 gauge strings on them. Just curious if you asked Sweetwater to put the ej15's on there?
  22. I would much prefer to see the glue, than to wonder if they used enough, or any at all.
