  1. Chicago Music Exchange. He most likely purchased through CME and had them handle the RMA for him.
  2. I worked with both my local repair shop / dealer and Gibson Montana on my issue. More info about my experience is available here: As far as I know, Gibson employees don't typically read/reply on the forum. Many years ago I recall there being one that did. Give them a call tomorrow, speak with your point of contact, express your concerns and draw to the red finish. Give them the chance to make it right. Hope it all works out for you.
  3. Sorry to hear of your troubles. I went through a similarly frustrating situation, but Gibson took care of me and then some. I have to believe they will make things right. You don't mention when you finally took receipt of the guitar or if you reached out to your contact at Gibson who handled your RMA. Did you give them a chance to make it right?
  4. I wouldn’t let it stop you from playing it. Just case it when you’re done. No need to torture yourself unnecessarily. I’ve had good results with with the humidipaks and have them in all my cases, though I leave my guitars on hangars. I only use the humidified cases when winter hits and the heater drops the humidity drastically.
  5. Sorry to hear about your friend, Sal. That’s rough. Sure does sound like the gig from hell.
  6. That's a great idea, Lars. Could be a good way for your to find your groove too, Sal. Knowing you have one that you're excited about playing and comfortable with may help ease the pain of playing Skynyrd. 😜
  7. Great job, Sal. What a gift to give your friends, and one that will last much longer than any material item. What was your recording setup for this one? Straight into the iPad? Sorry to hear about your D15!
  8. Beautiful. Love the pic with the Union Jack. Hope it brings you many hours of enjoyment.
  9. Honestly, I've had this set on for almost a year. 😬 😂 I love the Retros on my mahogany and maple guitars. I've used them exclusively for the last 5 years or so, but I wasn't a fan of them on my rosewood OM or a walnut backed dread I used to own. The Epiphone IBG Hummingbird is the first mahogany guitar I've owned they don't sound good on.
  10. Thanks, Uncle Fester. I appreciated the kind words. Love the VW in your pic. Very cool.
  11. I own a IBG Epiphone Hummingbird. I posted my thoughts and NGD pics in this thread. I think it's a great guitar. I've always wanted a Gibson Hummingbird, but haven't played one that knocked my socks off. I a-b'd this IBG Bird against a Gibson in the store, preferred the sound of the IBG and took it home. I own a SJ200 and a J45 Vintage in addition to the IBG bird. Does it compare with those? No, but it's a fun guitar. Sometimes you need something that's not as expensive & doesn't have to be babied for knocking around. This IBG Bird fits that bill for me. Do I wish it was a Gibson Hummingbird TV/Vintage? Definitely. Can I afford one of those right now, definitely not.
  12. Ditto! I've experienced first hand the tuner creating a fingerprint in the nitro. Please don't make that mistake. It hurts!
  13. Beautiful burst! Congratulations. I had a warranty issue a few years ago and Gibson more than took care of me as well. Made me a die hard Gibson fan for life. I hope yours brings many years of enjoyment.
  14. Thanks, Bozz! I still miss that SCSJ, but the J45 Vintage is a far better instrument. I especially love the fat neck on the Vintage. Wish my SJ200 had a neck like that.
  15. Thank you, Anne. No mic/GarageBand. Recorded on an iPhone 11 Pro and uploaded to YouTube.
  16. Thanks, Olie. Guitar is tuned to Open D: DADF#Ad and capo'd at the first fret (obviously).
  17. Thank you, I appreciate it. Wow. I'm having a hard time processing that compliment, Sal. I'm just a hack compared to most of you guys. It means a lot coming from you. I always look forward to the recordings you share, and consider you to be setting the bar for the rest of us.
  18. Thanks, Rob. Thanks, Dan. I agree. This one's special and won't ever leave my hands. Gibson really took care of me when my 2015 SCSJ had mystery issues and they finally replaced it with this Vintage. More info about that in these two threads. That experience made me a die hard Gibson fan for life. Thanks, Paul. I appreciate you guys taking the time to listen.
