Sitting on my sofa with my Les Paul-ES335-Firebird V and playing the blues, all the blues and nothing but the blues, "So help me Johnny!" Shamanism, Meditation, Archery, cooking & fine wine, fine beer, fine whiskey......oh yeah
  1. Hey Guys, just picked up a sparkling clean 1983 ES 335 Custom Shop in Natural. Where was the location of the Custom Shop in 1983? Trying to attach photos but keeps saying file too big
  2. I'm waiting for a response from Gibson. The frets in question on my 2010 Dot RI are quite tall and squarish. The top is hardly round at all. Almost no crown. I can have them crowned, here in the Seattle area that would cost around $250-$350.
  3. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Gibson switch to an intermediate fret sort of between the fretless wonders & the tall ones they are now using?
  4. Yes, I have considered that as an option. But there is also the issue of this guitar having the 60's slim tapered neck and I do prefer the more chunky style. Do you happen to know which year Gibson changed the type of frets?
  5. Which year did Gibson change from the lower fatter frets to the taller ones? I have a 2010 ES335 Dot Reissue with the tall squarish frets. I find these frets uncomfortable. I tend to drag my fingers up & down the fretboard and the callouses on my fingers get caught on the frets. I am comfortable in my playing style and too old to change my ways. So, I am looking to sell and get a vintage 335 with the older style frets. So, how far back do I have to go to get what I am looking for? Thanks, Jenny
  6. oh yeah, Shut up and play yer guitar, The return of shut up and play yer guitar, the return of the son of shut up and play yer guitar......used to have them all on cassette.. :)Easter Hay just happens to be a particular favorite.
  7. To listen to his "Watermelon in Easter Hay" will tell you what he was really about.. still one of my favorite instrumentals yet mostly unknown...except to the Central Scrutinizer
  8. Hey FZ Fan. I saw Zappa back in the day. It was at the Seattle Opera House. I think it was right after the "Apostrophe" album. Frank walked on stage, plugged in and started playing. He was non stop continuous playing for about 2+hrs. When he stopped he said thank you and walked off. That was it. While I've always preferred a little conversing with the audience and such, it was still one of the most amazing guitar performances I've ever seen. RIP. and I'm still searching for St. Alfonsos pancake breakfast....
  9. OK what did I do wrong, how do I get the pics to appear?
  10. I am now in debt up to my eyeballs but who cares? 2010 CS ES335 Dot reissue in 'Beale Street Blue' The Quilt Maple is unreal. Even the Mahogany neck has flame. And a 2010 CS Les Paul Custom in Oxblood. Oh baby I'm in 7th Heaven and floating 6 inches off the floor. https://www.flickr.com/photos/154087272@N05/38713719464/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/154087272@N05/39391556072/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/154087272@N05/39421418281/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/154087272@N05/38616936254/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/154087272@N05/38616937824/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/154087272@N05/38616938864/in/dateposted-public/

I think I am not going to keep it. I'll put on classifieds for sale or trade.

OK problem fixed. goodbye photobucket hello Flickr....... This is really rare. I've heard of them but this is the first one I've seen. I traded a Gretsch White Penguin for it but not sure I'm going to keep it. 1996 Country Gentleman "Chet Atkins" in mint condition. Plays sweet & easy but I don't like the 490/492 pups in it. I find them be shrill, thin with no character. If I keep it, any ideas for boutique pups? Looking for warm low output bluesy tone. Already have 57's in my ES335 and BB1&2 in my LP. So those are out of the picture. I took these pics before I gave it a good polishing. Looks even better in person. Might sell or trade it. If anyone is interested, message me. cg13 by jenny jenny, on Flickr cg14 by jenny jenny, on Flickr cg3 by jenny jenny, on Flickr cg1 by jenny jenny, on Flickr cg4 by jenny jenny, on Flickr
