  1. Gibson maybe occasionally uses bone nuts on made 2 measure guitars or something where the customer specs that but it’s not a normal thing to come on any production model. In this case unless the guitar has been modified it’d be reasonable to just assume it’s not a bone nut

    I want a second opinion.

    Okay, you're ugly, too.

    lol

I’m sure you guys are already aware but just to be clear I’m not name calling anyone here especially not the homie Steve.

Our healthcare system is so screwed up in America. Basically every possible aspect of it is broken, you could pretty much go on all day about all the problems.

I don’t really know that I want socialized healthcare at all. Our government has already shown that they suck at healthcare, why make it even more complicated and expensive. I mean if you’re broke and you wanna go pump out your 5th baby I’m already paying for it anyways..

I went to the IRS yesterday. I had an appointment and had to wait for some lady in front of me who was berating the IRS dude because she didn’t pay the taxes she owed from 6 years ago and can’t believe that she has to pay with interest etc. In the midst of her tirade I hear that she’s on disability and she makes more a week than I do. I really had to bite my tongue because for one thing she was obviously not disabled in any way.

anyways get off my freakin lawn

  3. To rationalize your experience it would help to think of the average patient your doctor sees. They are old, fat, stupid, and tend to think they know better than the doctor. The doctor shouldn’t treat every old fat guy the same but after seeing a million old stupid fat guys he stops explaining so many nuances which are lost on the patient 99% of the time anyways

  4. You should get into building your own pedals. You could make an ocd with the clipping diodes on a rotary switch and have all the options in one pedal

It would have been so easy for Fulltone to put that on a switch. They probably didn’t want to modify their enclosure or PCB designs

  5. lol did he get in some trouble with the PC police or something?

The only thing he did that I really liked was remaking the Echoplex. Nothing sounds like a reel tape echo (see what I did there) and he did a great job on that.

The OCD has at least 4 different versions but I’m not a big fan. The Fuzz Face and Rangemaster are too generic to assign any credit to Fulltone but a good example of either are always fun

  6. Holy **** the advice here is so bad. Hit the knobs with a mallet? Wow

I realize this is a necro post but… Add a second nut to the threaded bushing of the pot and use it to adjust how much of the shaft is sticking out. One nut below the top to adjust height, one nut above the top to secure it down.

That would normally be way too complicated for most of you guys to handle but on a semi hollow where you have to fish the electronics through the f holes… out of the question. When your best idea is to smash it with a mallet just go to the luthier

Did you look at the picture?  And zoom in?  Go ahead and explain how the whole fret board is inset what looks like a 1/8th back from the edge of the neck? who knows, maybe somebody who had no clue trying to address fret sprout and filed off the whole edge of the fret board “trying to even things up.” And I’m sorry but glue is not atomic level bonding.  I have seen it fail in plenty of good laminates that were kept in bad conditions.

    You’re trippin out

  8. When Gibson said the fretboard contracted they were assuming you realize it’s glued to the neck.

This happens to pretty much all old guitars if you don’t maintain proper humidity. What you are describing never happens. So by all means I would choose the option that pretty much always happens over the option that never happens

I think you’ve already confused the hell out of these guys though

  9. You got some bad info here. The fretboard cannot shrink separately from the neck it is glued to unless it is no longer glued together. That doesn’t appear to be the case here but generally I feel like the likelihood of that happening is so small it shouldn’t be considered

The neck shrunk to a greater extent than the frets. The fret ends are finished over so as the fret end pushes out proud of the neck it pushes the finish along with it

Nitro lacquer also can shrink and crack and it tends to do so along seams no matter how fine. That’s why you always see the finish cracking around the Gibson inlay on the headstock. For that reason, the finish cracked along the fretboard to neck seam. There is almost certainly no structural issue. Just like when you see a line in the finish on a Gibson set neck joint. Nothing to worry about

Something for everyone - often in the same song! [scared]

Talented, interesting and prolific. If rock mattered in the world anymore these guys would be doing very nicely I reckon.[thumbup]

I’m at work with a younger guy right now and I let him take over the radio (streaming from Apple Music or something. I’m loving the newer stuff he’s playing. Makes me feel good that it’s not all lost

  11. All my guitar playing life there have been things I would like to have but can’t afford. That doesn’t mean the guitar is bad, I just can’t afford it.

I can’t state strongly enough that I think the price is ridiculous but cmon this is a sweet axe and Jimmy truly looked and sounded amazing with his 1275

  12. I gotta say the price tag is ridiculous but I’m a little bit surprised that none of us even seem really horned up by this thing??

Led Zep is far from being one of my favorite bands but Jimmy Page is like the patron saint of rock n roll. He has to be one of the greatest musicians of all time and he looked so freakin cool with the 1275.

I literally can’t watch the song remains the same without crying because it’s so beautiful. Watching Jimmy play the 1275 is like idolatry. You could call it iconic.

Again the price tag is insane but holy **** this looks like a ****ing cool guitar

Long ago (1980) I put a Fender 6-saddle bridge on my Tele.  It's still there.  I've kept the original.

    [thumbup]

I have pretty limited experience, but I think the original style bridge has kindof an important influence on the sound

thats not to say the 6 saddle bridge sounds bad, but I think there may be some special Tele magic in the original bridge. I got one of the compensated vintage style bridges and it sounds more Tele like than my 6 saddle Tele

Lol... No, I did my own shape and my own headstock...  It also had custom made pickups from an old member (Searcy)...

So do your Gibsons smell like fried rice?

I didn’t do anything creative and it was so expensive to make a guitar. I swear there is no end to the finishing problems…

with that said I’ve got 5 neck blanks ready to go lol. I figure if I make 5 bolt ons maybe I’ll get something right once

having a fancy pants R9 is like waking up in silk sheets and you don’t really have much drive to attempt something competitive

  15. What year was your standard?

the ABR-1 is the bridge. The TP-6 is actually a tailpiece with fine tuners and didn’t normally come on standard models

You might be talking about the Nashville bridge which is common on standard models. The mounting posts on the Nashville thread into bushings whereas the ABR-1 mounting posts thread directly into the wood

Are you using fresh strings on the new guitar? Fresh strings help a lot with pinch harmonics. Also if you’re using the rhythm pickup you won’t hear the harmonics well through the amp. You should always use the bridge pickup for harmonics
