    viva la resistance!

  2. Ah I see.

That's cool about the p94. I can dig em. I was just giving you a hard time because I know how you are about Bigsbys and strings and stuff.

I've only using my Tele with my band lately. As much as I love my SG right now I'm just lovin the way my Tele sounds. So I feel your pain with the humbuckers.

  3. Haha. I just read the meat on lent thing. Nice...

Also just wanted to harass you about the whole p90 thing a little bit.

  4. Over off the 91? Never fished there. I've driven by it about a million times though.

  5. Orange County in a city called Placentia. It's near Fullerton and Anaheim.

  6. From what I can see, you did a great job. It looks real. Very nice!
  7. Eh not that it's important but I don't see how it's "based on a Historic". It's not really a reissue at all and if you look at the body it's pretty much based off a regular SG Standard. The body is the same as a regular Standard except for the controls and pickup routes obviously. The neck joint is the same as a Standard and it seems to have about the same neck profile as a Standard (not a 60's). Also it doesn't have a big headstock like a '61. The Historics use different pickups and electronics as well. It seems to be an SG Standard with 3 57 classics and a chicken head and single volume and tone pots. It's more similar to a Standard than a '61 even though the half pickguard might throw you off. Also the difference in the amount of wood between a fat felling neck and a slim feeling neck is much less than you would expect. I could definately not notice a difference and I would say you couldn't either but I don't want to insult your ears. The Historics are very different beasts..
  8. Are you a fan of the ZVex SHO or is that just a coincidence?

I just ordered my first ZVex pedal. It's one of the painted Fuzz Factories. I really want pretty much all of their pedals I love ZVex.

  9. No I haven't found a kit because I got a bit distracted. Thanks for the recommendations though I bookmarked them for when the time comes ;-)

  10. Hey I like the new sig picture. Your Custom is so sweet!

  11. Gal to see you ended up getting that Custom. I saw your other thread asking if it was real. That thing is pretty rough but I like the way it looks. It's a pretty rockin SG haha. If it were mine I wouldn't even worry about restoring it unless something needed fixing. Anyways that things got some serious mojo.
  12. cosmitron- I think you should wait it out and go for the white custom you wanted! They're excellent!
  13. A Custom isn't any more breakable than another SG. Don't let that put you off on getting one. It won't break unless you break it.
  14. Hey I was wondering where you got your amp kits.

I want to get a clone of an old Princeton reverb (or maybe even a deluxe or twin).

Any recommendations? I would ideally like to get one that's fairly priced but quality components are very important to me of course.

  15. I like what the 6 way does but not how it does it. I like to be able to just blindly swing my hand down and flip the switch basically by just smacking it like an idiot really quickly while I'm playing. The 6 way just has too many positions for me to adjust it quickly enough. In a band situation I tend to make a lot of adjustments. I know what you're talking about with the 3 way middle position volume drop. It's very minor but still noticable. I still use it though. It has it's merit.
  16. Wow... That picture is beautiful. That SG... Those amps...
  17. Haha yeah that's what I love about alternate tunings. It also forces me to play sort of out of the box and ditch a lot of my boring old ways of playing haha.

I have a class today but when I get out I'm gonna try out DADGAD. Thanks

  18. Yeah you could still do all of those and you could use the pots to vary the amount of each pickup that you're hearing (middle or otherwise). It's a very reasonable way to do it IMO. Many people also install a mini switch to activate the middle pickup. This is probably the best way to do it because then you can have the volume of the middle pickup already set and then kick it on instantly at any time. It would function as a regular two pickup guitar with a third pickup that can be activated in any position. What position do you use mostly on your SG 3? I have a Standard but I use the neck pickup mostly.
  19. Lol I'm just the other way around. I don't want to part with my 3 way switch.
  20. I checked out some more of your YouTube videos. I love the Art & Lutherie open chord noodling video. What tuning was that? It was great.

In my last band we had a song in sort of an open d tuning. I don't know what it was called but if you strummed the strings open it would be a d minor. I also just recently tried open g and that's pretty cool too.

  21. Haha yeah. I'd record some stuff but I don't have any equipment or a computer. Also my last band broke up. I could play all the parts myself but I also don't have a drumkit or a bass. I'm in a pickle lol.

Actually I have some crappy recordings of improvised jams on my iPod from my first band. I don't think I can post them though.

  22. Thanks man. Your guitars are awersome. I love the Wilshire.

But I watched that video (the one that says 1975) and I dug it. It was very tight. It was 70s prog rock sweetness. You rock man!

I was really surprised. Most people on the forum seem to have all the toys but don't know how to play.

Not trying to kiss your ***. I just thought that was a cool jam.

  23. Hey man I was checking out your signature line and it seems like you have some sweet guitars.

Do you have pics of them? Particularly the old Epis :D

  24. If I had a 3 pickup SG, I would want to have 4 pots and a standard 3 way toggle switch. I would have a volume pot for each pickup and a master tone. I would have the switch so that it works like a standard 2 pickup guitar. I would have it wired so that I could bring up the volume on the middle pickup to engage it at any time/ position. And I would probably have it out of phase. That's probly the only way I would have a 3 pickup SG. I don't like the sound of the middle pickup very much so I would want to have it out of the equation most of the time unless I wanted to bring it in for some weirdness. That's just me though.
