  1. The case doesn’t look right - can only see 4 latches when there should be 5. Also that sticker on the pick guard looks like it came from the far east. I’d pass because a real Gibson like that costs more than $3400 - even used.
  2. @Kurital that’s beautiful. Congrats again and hope for many years of enjoyment!
  3. Glad you are happy with it. As mentioned by me and others… take the truss rod cover off and see if there is a 5/16” nut there and if so, congratulations on owning a beautiful new Gibson Les Paul. There appears to be “wings” as it has been called looking at the back of the headstock which is a Gibson thing - great positive indicator. The S/N is stamped in a way Gibson would do… that’s about all that can be said based on what you provided. What about paperwork that comes with the guitar? Just other things that help validate it. Can call Gibson too… give them the serial number. But first and foremost, look behind the truss rod cover…
  4. I’m strongly leaning towards real based on picture showing the back of the headstock - how the thing was constructed should be apparent from this view. To remove doubt I’d want to see what’s behind that truss rod cover. It better be a 5/16” nut or I would hard pass. Good luck!
  5. We may not like rap - self included - but what we have had since its inception has been FAR worse. I think music isn’t music today. It’s corporate sounds or something like that.
  6. Haha it’s funny because it’s true
  7. No one here including myself claiming you have a problem haha! Sounds like you have a purpose to it all. Everyone is different and appreciate you sharing with us here what your purpose is. I did at one time enjoy the grind of finding guitars that excited me to acquire, just that that “flame” seems to be faint these days from my perspective. I feel at this present moment I am contented with my collection and I have welcomed it. Many great wishes to you and your success.
  8. Maybe I conquered my GAS but there is nothing I am pining for whatsoever on the new guitar market. I have lost interest in other guitars/gear I used to keep an eye out for as well. I own 13 guitars and 11 are high end Gibson guitars. I’ve come to the conclusion that I have all I would ever want in a lifetime. I play how I play and I sound how I sound for the most part with any of these 13 guitars so I ask myself what am I missing - what’s the point of acquiring more? Not knocking anyone else how they choose to use their money/time. I feel I’m in a nice place right now. I hated it in the past when I’d see something else and it would consume my thoughts until I got it, then I’d be looking for another guitar shortly after. Viscous cycle…
  9. Northern MI is beautiful. Nicer in the summer I personally feel but still great place. Hope you have a great time visiting!
  10. I have a Peavey 5150 II model. I also have the cabinets that go with it - top and bottom. So loud, it melts faces. Sort of a sterile clean tone but the distortion it gives is no joke… very full sounding. Had it since it came out and no real reason to sell it. Still works great… all original. Some swear by the original 5150, but not sure why anyone that has the II would be aspiring for the original. Bottom line, this amp/cab set is made for arenas. Easily…
  11. Perhaps “greatest” has been redefined in some fashion… I can’t find any other explanation. Whats good for one man may be the opposite for another. Perhaps greatest guitarists that helped RS sell the most magazines… most publicity… looks like this list repays some favors… greatest guitarists to me means those that have mastered the instrument and written songs that demonstrate this. The rankings here are not in my agreement either. “Music” today isn’t music. It’s about image and popularity. Talent - as usual for the last few decades - isn’t a major factor. If you can look good on stage holding a guitar, on the list. Done!
  12. From a repair standpoint, individual components of hand-wired much easier to service. When you have to service a bad pot or whatever dealing with PCB, you’re taking out the whole thing, not just the “bad” parts. I don’t believe tone-wise you’ll see much difference if any to agree with others here.
  13. Maybe it’s just me but when I think of Crate, I think crap. My first practice amp was a Crate and it sucked poop. Those Blue Voodoos - one of their “best” amps - I read had issues too… I played through one a few times and they were OK, but I can think of so many more better ones. And I forgot the name of the SS Crate head I used years ago, but that thing would just cut out on you intermittently, then come back minutes later like nothing was wrong… The tone was pretty bad too with a decent cabinet I might add. GC offered me $100… I took it and ran. Wasn’t going to gig with that thing if it was the only amp I could get. It would screw you over… So maybe I got this whole Crate thing wrong, but I think some would agree with my feelings about the brand. I’ll pass…
  14. Nice amp! I like the HRD IIIs a lot. I like them because you turn them up to 2, they are already cranking haha! Enjoy 😀
  15. What the Beatles did had to be done at some time or another. But if someone did exactly what they did today, well already been done. It wasn’t my generation (gen X if we must). That classic rock was my dad’s music that I got somewhat familiar with. I also had my generation’s music I liked, but as we might know, I liked rock and metal. Still do… but I respect the Beatles and understand how they were the biggest band of all time. And yes, music for the past decade and possibly more are mostly corporate music garbage sounds. No soul, no life. All image and stupidity. Just me again haha! YMMV
  16. Yeah I guess there is a market for this kind of stuff. Just saw this Slash LP and remember seeing the Chibson variant of this haha! It was a piece…. I doled out for my reissues but nothing in the range of $10k… Not complaining that I can’t get this Slash LP, but just a lot of money to spend on a guitar that is basically not to be played. I mean, I wouldn’t want to gig with it… just me though haha! But to each and to their own I guess…
  17. Got to really love Slash to want this one… https://reverb.com/item/73927553-1997-gibson-custom-shop-slash-snakepit-les-paul-cranberry-near-mint-w-case-yamano?utm_source=rev-ios-app&utm_medium=ios-share&utm_campaign=listing&utm_content=73927553 Not that Gibson is selling this one, but they make these limited runs that people sell for CRAZY money. It’s a regular LP with different paint - priced as high as a high-end vehicle today. Have fun with this one…
  18. Prices across the board are awful. Inflation is “normal” but the hikes on the things we have to buy were substantial in such a short period of time. Whoever’s fault it is I’m going to bet that it was someone/something rich and not feeling the effects of it all. So I’m sum, miser your money because everything is a rip today. Nothing we can do about it other than this to some extent. Have to give these greedy corporations their money or the world will end. Whatever is at fault, the effects of this inflation have impacted me and still continuing to adjust here and there with my budget.
  19. I’m going to quit music because politics. Yeah that’ll show em! Is this what we call virtue signaling? I should make a business selling soap boxes - I’d be able to afford a new LP
  20. I believe I brought up this price thing, and what do you want me to tell? Seems like a jab and want to start an argument based on our past experiences here… Real adult of you if this be another round of saying mean, nasty things to each other… Repeat back what you wrote to me to yourself and think how you might feel if you received the feedback… hey maybe I misinterpreted you - benefit of the doubt. In this case pardon my interpretation of your comment which again, seems to address the points I brought up and no one else here. Appreciate the kindness 😁
  21. Like him or not, all the power to Rick. Working hard to provide regular content that talks about sophisticated musical stuff and what not. I don’t watch him really, but know what he’s all about. Ranting and teaching haha! He’s a good player too no doubt on piano AND guitar. And it seems to be pretty lucrative too keeping with the times to do something he loves - playing music - and making a living at it. Apparently he’s even got his own signature Gibson which I would consider an accomplishment to be had.
  22. I was simply agreeing with @SteveFord with everything he said. But not in denial that prices today have just gone up so one has to expect that this guitar is “correctly” priced for today’s market. TBH ever since inflation went crazy, I haven’t had any inclination to buy any gear. Used to new, everything up substantially from a short while ago it seems. There maybe deals to be had, but seems more far and few between.
