  1. @jdgm I liked the getting your coat part a lot šŸ¤£
  2. @Whitefang itā€™s complicated and really the dismissal comes from ā€œgraduatingā€ to some real heavy flipping metal that Metallica just got too big and mainstream for me to dig their style. That and me playing their stuff on my guitar for years while listening to their albums constantly. Like I said, Load was the turning point for me to wonder just whyā€¦ Metal bands I loved along with them back in the day got heavier while Metallica was shooting Loads on everyone haha! Megadeth sort of tried to get more commercial like Met, but Mustaine came to his senses and kept it real. I learn to favor Megadeth much more later in my post Met days. Like I said, it gets complicated. But on topic, good for Kirk I guess. Donā€™t wish these guys to die or anything bad, just that I donā€™t have the passion for the band like I once did growing up.
  3. I will admit, Kirk is admired by many still. I being an older Metallica fan still haven't gotten over the Load, Reload, and St. Anger stuff. I feel like the trauma lives on, haha! I have non-existent memories of being in the court room answering, "With the doll, tell me where you were touched." But yeah, I don't care if he's part of the sig collection or how much his guitars will cost. I just expressed my feelings of how I cannot feel the same about a band I admired more than life itself back in my youth. Die hard metal fan here, but I like other genres too. IDK, it's complicated... I just cannot listen to Metallica anymore - the band that inspired me to play metal and learn leads on guitar. I remember the day all of us metal heads got the new long-awaited Load after hearing everything from Kill 'em All to the Black album. 4 years later... Load... It hurt then and the pain still lingers, haha! I think I need therapy...
  4. @GraceToo, I'm just confused what your purpose is to keep saying the same stuff over and over monitoring this thread that you resolved - got rid of guitar and got a Tele. Why keep repeating yourself that you're disappointed, Gibson needs to change its process, unacceptable for the price, etc. It's old man... Again, purpose.
  5. Right there with ya, I donā€™t mess with my Fendersā€™ finishes. And lol @Big Bill šŸ¤£ lol!
  6. That V is really sweet! I like everything about it. Congratulations and enjoy for many years @codename šŸ‘Œ
  7. You did one thing right, got rid of the guitar and got something that makes you happy. The next thing you need to do is stop discussing this static thing for ages. It's been since June and again, guitar is gone - out of your life. You're not going to continue on this conversation to convince me to sell all my 14 Gibson guitars that have NO STATIC. Even if they do, I don't hear it. Never been booed off the stage for static pops coming out of my Gibson. Calling Bono... Bono anyone? I tend to post frightful images of him. Last time I had nightmares of what I saw!
  8. @B Skiddy not trying to be a d*** but whatā€™s your point? You want some buddies here to chum with you about hating on Gibson? They donā€™t read this thread and what are we going to do. These days thereā€™s probably like oh, 20 people tops that regularly post here so just putting that out there. You are one of many who has written posts like this. My favorite was the PRS guy who said three strikes your out Gibson haha! Wish heā€™d come back that was a funny fā€™n thread lol! See what happens to me once people start talking about Metallica in other posts I just contributed to haha!
  9. Used to like Metallica until I learned how much if a bunch of rich DBs these guys were. Besides, three are a lot more ā€œrealā€ metal bands out there that make me want to break s*** instead of their washed up crap. Megadeth > Metallica all day long fellas, all day long. And besides Iā€™m more of a Testament or even Pantera guy. F Metallica and their Load a**es. Go Reload somewhere else. Yeah the hate runs deep in me. Kirk is a tool who is really not a great lead guitarist IMHO. I can name some much, much better metal lead guitarists that have been releasing crap as long as Metallica and I can still listen to their old stuff. Not Kirkā€™s though. I hate Metallicaā€™s riffs, their leads, and ESPECIALLY Larsā€™s drums. Rant over haha! Oh yeah definitely not interested in Kirkā€™s sig crap. Now Mustaineā€™s Vā€¦ different story. I donā€™t buy guitars associated with guys in bands that put male ejaculates on 2 album covers expecting me to like it.
  10. Awesome! Love how effortless he phrases with the rhythm.
  11. @DZA unfortunately your plea falls on deaf ears. Meaning that Gibson doesnā€™t check the forums here. If you got their attention youā€™re more than welcome to go Custom Shop for a nominal fee.
  12. I one time heard that fructose - corn syrup have you - is actually similar to alcohol - which we know is a poison to our body - in the sense that the only organ that processes it is the liver. It is an extremely inefficient source of energy that is considered by the FDA as GRAS (generally regarded as safe). I donā€™t trust the FDA or many other 3 letter places today. Fructose is a sweetener that is not good for you at all. But moderation whatever, the less you have it - like alcohol - your body will thank you. That isā€¦ pure fructose. It exists in nature, but if you say consume an apple, the fiber will reduce its absorption. FYI I like beer even if itā€™s bad for you. Just wanted to be objective to explain how the human body processes alcohol or in this case fructose which is a large part of ā€œpopā€ more often than not.
  13. We donā€™t but ā€œpopā€ in this household. Does anyone else call it pop? I heard it was somewhat of a regional thingā€¦ either way that s*** is bad. Only ā€œgoodā€ things to drink are (pure) water and milk if you can handle the lactose. Coffee isnā€™t bad I suppose if you donā€™t add the sugar and cream and donā€™t consider caffeine a bad thing. But again I go back to water and milk. Everything else has something bad in it IMHO. To add, I donā€™t like milk personally but thatā€™s just because I donā€™t prefer it.
  14. As it has been said many times before, you're best bet is to take some time to call Gibson and share the information you have. They know for sure and it literally takes less time than waiting for some potentially inaccurate response coming up here. Not trying to pick a bone here, but rather trying to lead you in the best direction possible. Calling Gibson is what I do when I have these sorts of questions. This forum does not get Gibson employees' attention - just a bunch of regular Joes here.
  15. I shared a short while back my Digitech RP7 effects board and my 90s DOD Metal X pedal. Had these since they were brand new at the time. Another pedal I picked up a couple years ago was the Boss DA-2 pedal called Adaptive Distortion. WOW! It is a killer pedal. The newer Boss pedal DS-1X is similar to it if anyone is familiar, but I tried both and the DA-2 is better IMHO. https://www.boss.info/us/products/da-2/ Good luck finding one today. I had to scour the web for mine and got lucky to get it for what I paid. But in sum, this distortion pedal is crazy because you can play some intricate chord and it sounds very clear somehow... It's magic! The DS-1X is similar in this regard, but the DA-2 has more balls - at least to my ears it does. As I said though before, not much for effects other than reverb and a high gain pedal. I hardly use my effects board for anything else other than maybe EQ, noise gate, and reverb (distortion SUCKS on it). Oh, it has a cab simulator that improves somethings a little, but it is a sim... I heard that Boss is coming out with a Waza HM pedal that had the highly sought after chainsaw distortion. Might give that a try one day... Who knows šŸ˜
  16. Lol just saying: I donā€™t care what made those marks! As long as they arenā€™t skid marks, youā€™re all good šŸ˜‚
  17. Iā€™m going out on a limb and saying no clamps, only razor blades. Watch how these guitars are made and pay close attention to when the people are posted to scrape bindings all day long to remove the excess finish with razor blades. Sorry donā€™t have a link but web searches are easy to do. Itā€™s 2021, Iā€™m lazy haha!
  18. Could definitely get more than $1650 for it and the right price will sell that quickly as you post it. As always have to do research to figure out what similar guitars are selling for and/or have sold for in recent days. Start high, then gradually reduce price. The guitar market I have learned is a lot of made up value. You are playing the card that you have something that someone cannot live without so to speak so youā€™re waiting for that buyer. But mods and non original stuff set aside will affect value, but still you will get a bit more than $1650 I believe. It takes time, patience, and research to sell guitars for the right price from a sellerā€™s perspective.
  19. With these new LP Standards, I just look at the knobs. Reflectors on the 60s, no reflectors on 50s.
  20. Looks like the person who scraped that with a razor blade left some noticeable impressions. Wouldnā€™t worry about it, itā€™s pretty common. Hand-made guitars, gotta love em. Seriously wouldnā€™t worry about it as thatā€™s pretty small and looks like it wonā€™t affect the way the guitar plays.
  21. Well you probably could take the cord and loop it through where the strap fastens to the butt of the body and youā€™d think nothing of it. Itā€™s probably a great sounding guitarā€¦ donā€™t know, never played one. But again hope it turns out well!
  22. @LPRich web search Phil. But Iā€™ll save you the trouble. Heā€™s a YouTuber and I donā€™t like to watch his stuff. I know my gearā€¦ Just had to throw my opinion into the mix lol!
  23. Interestingā€¦ Input jack is right near the bridge? That might bother me, but thatā€™s why we are all different and like different stuff I guess. Either way man hope you enjoy the guitar when it gets in your hands.
  24. @LPRich you got to do what you got to do. I just know if I didnā€™t get guitars online, I would have a difficult time coming across guitars that I did get online that I really appreciate. It took me a little bit to get used to it and of course had some troubles here and there. But overall I have had more positive experiences getting a guitar online.
