  1. I've seen many maple necks, and I have a Takamine with a lighter mahogany neck, so I'm still not sure.. The grain looks much more Mahogany than maple..
  2. It's a really nice playing guitar, I must say, having played many tele's and a very worthy Sheraton, a LP studio, and various Ibanez/Yamaha's, I feel this is my E guitar! The Bill Lawrence Pickups are surprisingly adaptable, and coming from the classic 57's in my Sheraton, I thought I couldn't get much better.. maybe the honey moon period.. but no buyer regret so far, even with the wonkey finish I have had to wet sand.. It feels almost like shellac!!.. theres barely any finish on this, as its been stripped of the Ferrari red and looks like its from the 60's now, as, not only has the finish become almost non existent, but all the chrome has tarnished.. or Nickel? (I don't know) the neck is almost bare wood.. Anyway, a completely surprising purchase that has made me rethink my guitar collection.. 😊
  3. Hi. I recently aquired a SG special that has had a 'refinish' it was ferrari red, and has had the finish stripped (pretty well) but i can't work out the neck wood.. im pretty sure its mahogany, but Gibson said it was maple with ebony fretboard.. 🤷‍♂️ I have had many guitars, and lots of them maple necked, this looks totally mahogany, but has some rays like maple has.. I'll try find some decent pictures Thanks.
