Dave - Above you mention shrinkage of a white oak plank run through a kiln. Not questioning accuracy of statement but 1 inch seems excessive. Do you happen to know how the plank was sawn? Whole/plain, quarter or riff? LCB

That Custom Shop video brings back some fond memories. I was fortunate to be able to attend the 2006 Annual Gibson Summer Jam at the custom shop Elm Hill Pike location. 2 days of free booze, food and music. Included small group tours of the custom shop with the folks actually working. They'd take the time to tell you what they were doing. After dinner, they lit up the stage with Dixie Peach, Devon Allman, Lee Roy Parnell, Gretchen Williams and Cheap Trick. Ren manned the Boseman trailer and was a pure gentleman. Of course I had to have the Hummingbird Custom Koa! Great excuse to visit Nashville. Unfortunately, I believe that was the last Summer Jam. LCB

Ha! That's an astute observation 40. Same thing happens to me and the wife in the mornings. Here is a quote from the (heaven forbid) Fender website: Why Do Guitars Go Out of Tune? | Fender Guitars "2. THE CLIMATE Guitars and their strings are greatly affected by extreme changes in temperature, as they will expand when it’s warm (making it sound flat) and contract when cold (resulting in a sharper sound)." So, if one accepts this concept, could the human body generate enough heat to warm the guitar and strings enough to make them go from sharp to in tune? I don't know but the science suggests it's possible. LCB

Not sure where the $150,000 limit came from. The FDIC insures saving accounts up to $250,000. I'm an old fart and not very computer savvy. What's the easiest way to post pics?

I have a 1969 cherry ES 335 that I bought from the single owner 10 years ago. He kept it under his bed. Beautiful light checking in the nitro and a slight bow in the lower neck that was fixed by a truss rod adjustment. No other issues. Also have several other electrics and acoustics that I purchased new and kept in a humidity controlled music room. since 2005 with no issues.

This has happened on several of my new Gibson acoustics as well as electrics, The deal is the nitro cellulose finish hasn't completely cured so you get a haze where your arm rests on the guitar. I buffed mine out with a cotton cloth to remove the haze. As indicated above, leave the guitar out or the case open. Generally takes around 2 months for things to settle.
