  1. I just turned 73, I don’t understand why people whine about being in their 50’s or 60’s. Sex and playing guitars is great.
  2. I have never had any problem with Reverb. My last purchase MF and GC made a mistake on their Reverb add on an aftermarket SG case that normally sold for about 100 plus shipping. They had a sale price 60 with no mention shipping cost, so I ordered it and they shipped. MF and GC were currently running the same add on eBay with 75 for shipping. I received the case in Hawaii for total cost of 60. Anyway its a very good case.
  3. Gives new meaning to classical gas, I like it.
  4. My heavy Roland cables are holding up pretty well, although I have had to re-solder one that plugs into my amp that gets stepped on from strain relief accidents.
  5. I have few not-tele guitars that came with Tele knobs, which I really like, partly because they are so easy to role with my little finger.
  6. I was disappointed with amount of tech my 2014 FRS has, like 8 antennas for all the devices like Bluetooth GPS Radio and whatever the fob uses. The large touch control screen is relatively easy to use as long as you are not driving. The one saving grace is that it has a CD player, USB and an 1/8th" analog audio input. My retirement car just turned 40000, isn't the most practical while a lot of fun to drive, its only 4" off the ground, so my dilemma is finding a simple replacement with low tech that is still fun to drive, something more utilitarian from the 90's maybe, with a CD.
  7. Which Island and where as each Island is very different, relaxation on what environment you need.
  8. The pots and hardware are metric sized. Pots knobs bridges stopbars, Gibson parts will not normally fit on Epiphones. "Inspired By Gibson model Epiphones" are built at the Qingdao factory in China using all metric parts with CTS pots and switches. Like my slightly modified " 2020 Inspired by Gibson ES-339" below, and like all ES's it is all metric.
  9. Need to clarify if you built cabinets in higher end homes with central air, which would increase the survival of nitro finished wood. I have been here for 18 years. Most of us here live with windows open all year around with no form of heating or AC. I live on the windward side of the Island, it rains every day and surrounded by heavy jungle that holds the humidity in. I had a few Gibsons when I moved here and acquired a few more before the finishes started to fail and the hardware pitted while turning green. So I got rid of them and moved on to more stable poly finishes.
  10. I Didn’t take offense to anything I appreciate honest answers. We all have our own opinions.
  11. Very very nice, love the 3 on a plate tuners.
  12. FYI Epiphone doesn’t normally put a veneer on ES’s because they are made from 5 ply maple which has a finish surface. I currently don’t have any Gibsons without the Epiphone brand on them, Nitro finishes melt here, Poly is the only way to go, like a lot of Fenders that dominate the Islands. Also Epiphone is moving away from veneer on their solid bodies like on my SG Classic below, which is 2 pieces of some kind of mahogany. I presently have 8 Epiphones, 3 LP’s, 2 SG’s, 1 Blueshawk, 1 Wilshire and a 339. All of them are performing very well. I have a few other brands too. My main requirement is all of the frets must be very playable or I get rid of the guitar. So what I have is a collection of very high performers.
  13. In 2020 Gibson introduced a new version of the Epiphone ES’s in the “Inspired By Gibson” line using specs that were closer to the Gibson models and introduced the new Epiphone headstock. Gibson uses a 3 ply maple/poplar/maple construction, Epiphone uses a 5 ply maple construction that makes the Epiphone ES’s slightly heavier. My slightly modified 2020 ES 339 below is a joy to play. It is direct wired with CTS pots and switches and has a poly finish.
  14. I made a mistake on the my previous post, I typed the wrong SN in my post, but the one below is the correct one from the eBay add showing the SN’s correct information. Serial # 00117135 Guitar Info Your guitar was made at the Bozeman Plant, MT, USA on January 11th, 2007 Production Number: 135
  15. There are other models of Gibsons that have the strap button located behind the neck that at times suffered from neck dive.
  16. Note that not all SG’s are equally effected by neck dive, over the years Gibson modified the shape of the heal from the original 61 style, which tend to dive the most, creating several versions that use longer heals to possibly make the neck stronger, but also allows the strap button to be moved changing the geometry. The longer joint does help provide better balance, I still tend to use a comfortable basic leather strap on my SG’s and not worry about dive.
  17. The information I lists it as a 76 model Les Paul built in 2019 but conflicts with the serial number information below. Serial # 001171135 Guitar Info Your guitar was made at the Bozeman Plant, MT, USA on January 11th, 2007 Production Number: 135
  18. I would choose a 339 with a Duesenberg Trem, which I did. and Mean 90's .........
  19. I made a very simple pedal board out of black pegboard, using zip-ties to hold everything in place and 3M'd some rubbery drawer liner to the back. Its working pretty good so far and easy to update. I added a DS1 between my TS5 and CryBaby as well. So now I guess I’m using 5 OD's counting the 3 in my SansAmp. I have my OD’s set so that they don’t increase the DB more than when bypassing, but do get a good increase when running more than one. 3 OD’s inline create wonderful sustain.
  20. Oh, you had the good one, mine was synthetic but very comfortable no matter how heavy the bass.
  21. Musicman made some great basses, enjoy. I played bass in my first band in 64, one of my favorites over the years was a 59 Fender P-bass with its headstock cut like a Vox. Also this Tele going through an SVT. and earlier this highly modified Kalamazoo below last time out playing bass at the Akebono Theater in Pahoa below with my Schecter going into a Marshall stack I have always had a fun playing bass, usually to fill in gaps between guitar bands. I mostly played some form of rock bass, I got paid more often for country or jazz.
  22. The capacitor on the tone controls make a difference on how deep the pot reacts. Humbuckings usually use .22uf to .33uf, 22 being shallower less likely to turn to mud. On my P90’s I use .33uf to .47uf that allow for a deeper tone response that P90’s handle before turning to mud. I actually use tone controls quite frequently with my P90’s.
  23. Reverb itself doesn’t usually ship anything, shipping is done by the 2nd or 3rd party seller, so the seller is the one you need to contact if you have problems. Reverb can help though.
